We went to Pita on Essex with two other families and placed orders at the counter so we could sit outside and eat. It was chaotic inside to order and the process was very slow. They estimated15-20 mins for the food to be ready (fine), but it ended up taking longer than that. Then, when we made it to where we were going to eat, we discovered some food items in the wrong bags and one vegetarian item just entirely missing (replaced with a meat based sandwich instead). It was an awful service experience and we didn't even receive all of the food we ordered. There are much better middle eastern restaurants in the area to order from, with better service, more accurate order fulfillment, and better...

First and foremost, I don't believe the dining experience justifies a 20% gratuity. The ambiance, cutlery, and service left much to be desired. Considering its location in downtown Millburn, the atmosphere was quite disappointing. The dining cutlery was also quite basic. On the positive side, the food was flavorful and the service was good. However, the portion sizes are questionable. For example, the chicken shawarma appetizer consists mostly of one pita and hummus, with a minimal amount of chicken, priced at $14. Overall, it's suitable for takeout, but I don't think it offers good value for money.
On a Saturday evening, we enjoyed a very comfortable outdoor seating experience. Our server, Natalie, was friendly and provided us with helpful information about the Israeli dishes on the menu. The pita bread was incredibly soft, unlike any we've had before. Tony, the owner, mentioned that the pita is imported from overseas and cannot be replicated in the U.S. There are plenty of gluten-free options available, and it's a BYOB establishment. I recommend sharing several appetizers and entrees to sample a bit of everything. Be sure to try the Shakshuka! The prices are very reasonable too.
I would go back. This spot is a great place for a fast casual dinner in Millburn. The veggies and Pita bread were fresh. The fried eggplant, however, tasted a bit like the grease needed changing. I get it, running a restaurant is tough. The mango sauce and tahini sauce on the Sabich gave it an authentic Israeli flavor. I wished it had some pickle and hot pepper. Food was mediocre, seems stuck in time, needs to up if to stay with times, much better Israeli style food out there. The falafel balls where okish, chicken was dry and not well spiced, same with the beef. The tahini tasted like it was out of a can and the sides where booring. Deli food for restaurant prices. The only thing good was the pita bread.
We brought their food to our welcome dinner the day before our wedding it was absolutely delicious and fresh. Simply a taste of home.Tony gave us more than enough food! He was amazing to work with, he is always so friendly and just a great person! We already went to his restaurant twice and you bet we will be back many more times.????
Relaxing and homelike environment. Im always put in a pleasant mood when entering this place, and the food maintains this mood and raises it. I'm really into the chili sauce right now. It's so good with everything! The Lamb and Beef kebabs taste and smell like great barbecue.Food: 5/5
Belligerent owner with no integrity acted in a very childish manner in what should’ve been a simple resolution between that and the insect that was in my food I will not be returning I have pics with proof Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Réservez une table maintenant
Opt for the platter or the house salad, as the sandwich was a bit lacking in chicken. However, everything was incredibly tasty and extremely fresh. I would definitely return here!
