Appalling service. A real disappointment. We booked a table here for 6pm prior to visiting the cinema. On arrival the hostess who looked very harassed and couldn’t even manage a smile) told us there would be at least a half hour wait for food. There was no apology, no welcome. I appeared hesitant because I explained that we had a filmed booked but her response was to shrug her shoulders. I accept that at times there may be staffing issues etc but the delivery of such information can make a huge difference to a customers acceptance of that situation. My husband and I wanted a meal out to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. We visited Bluewater and tried a couple of restaurants, but were turned away as we hadn’t booked. As a last resort, we tried Pizza Express. We were greeted at the entrance by a lovely lady named Illy. Despite the restaurant being busy, she managed to juggle a few things around and fit us in. It was reassuring that all safety measures in relation to COVID were being adhered to. The restaurant was extremely clean, and we felt very safe in this respect. The food was absolutely delicious. Ordered starters which came out relatively on time but mains took an hour to arrive. We complained to the waitress about this, who got the manager to speak to us. The manager asked “Who showed us to our table?”, to which we answered we didn’t know. He also said that we were told that food would be 30 minutes at the time of showing us to our table but at no point were we told it would take so long. If this was the case we may have chosen a different place to dine. He seemed disinterested in our grievances with the delay in being served mains. Not exactly what I would have expected. Food was ok but experience marred by the manager interaction with us.
Over the weekend I bought 14 disabled children to this restaurant and the staff could not have been more welcoming, accommodating and helpful if they had tried. Usually activities like this can be stressful, but they allowed me to book in advance (which is rare in Bluewater). Then on the day staff were again very understanding of our groups needs and the fact we had a budget due to working for a charity. Our waitress Seann, had a smile throughout as did the others. What Wonderful staff at Pizza Express Bluewater, especially Claire who went above and beyond to make our whole family feel welcomed and relaxed. One of our children is a non-verbal special needs child and Claire made such an effort with her: she spoke to her using Makaton sign language, she had the common sense to know not to put her food in front of her (she’d already seen 2 drinks get launched across the restaurant) and ensured that we received quick service. Food was delicious and we had a really enjoyable experience. Thank you.
Came to Bluewater after visiting an animal sanctuary in Brentwood. Needed something to eat so settled on Pizza Express as have good Vegan options. Seated quickly and had a very friendly waiter. Did not have to wait too long for our meal. It came to the table steaming hot and tasted delicious. Checked we were okay during meal and if we needed anything else. Wife had half pizza left and didn't even have to ask for a box to take the rest home. Would come back based on this visit.
Had lunch . Booked last week with ease. Polite friendly staff from the concierge to the waiting staff. Order taken quickly. Food was lovely. Covid precautions and cleaning adhered too to make staff and customers feel safe but be able to enjoy their meal with a taste of normality. Well done. Will deginetly be back
