The first time we went to eat, we had good, 100% generous plates just after the meal we waited 20 minutes for the waiter to offer us a coffee or a dessert but no nothing... so disappointed we left. .. Last night we went to eat again, telling ourselves that small mistakes could happen, but then this is the pinnacle!!! Everyone ordered (15 people). There was a mistake with the montanara pizza when we had ordered a ham and mushroom... another waiter came back insisting that we had ordered it... we refused it, he said he would return it and comes back with the right one. We came for a pizza but after seeing someone else enjoying a steak on a hot stone on his plate we knew that we'd get great pizza anywhere else but the meat would be unique. Which it was. Both the filet and the entrecote were prepared amazingly and the filet especially was soft even as it still baked a little on the hot stone it was served on. The staff was very welcoming and fun to have at your table, clearly enjoying themselves and especially enjoying my terrible French, which we all had a laugh about. We chose Don Marcello because it was the only restaurant open on a Monday evening but we'd come back any day of the week.
We were happy to find this rather unassuming pizzeria open on a Monday at noontime after we had hiked around the nearby area. There is ample free parking in the back of the restaurant, accessed by a side street. Our waiter was very friendly. We ordered vitello tonnato and pizzas. The tonnato was quite good with a tasty sauce, served with excellent French fries. The pizzas were very big and more than enough to finish. We sat outside in the veranda at the back of the restaurant which was quiet and pleasant. The owner takes pride in his numerous plants around the veranda.
