I had dinner at the Pleasant Street Restaurant very recently on a quiet night. The casual dining room is fully carpeted with ample table seating and candlelight at each table. The menu offerings include steaks, seafood, chicken, pasta, prime rib, apps, salads, soups, and sandwiches. Prices for entrees $10.95-$18.95. Specials are also offered. A kids menu is available and most dinner entrees include starch and vegetable plus a salad and dinner rolls. On Friday and Saturday nights, they offer homemade popovers. I was promptly seated as I walked in. My waitress an older lady) offered me a drink I stuck with the house water) and highly recommended the Lasagna Special $12.95), which I did order....
Stopped in on Friday night. Never been there before but figured we 'd try it. Great chicken tenders for my kid! This is probably the only thing they do good along with the salad bar, but who can really screw up that? I had southwestern eggrolls as an appetizer. They had decent flavor as they were obviously pre-made and frozen. Oddly they were paired with an Asian style sweet and sour sauce, which did not pair with the southwest flavor. No thought went into this offering... The rest of this place deserves a visit from some brutal chef like Gordon Ramsey and Kitchen Nightmares. I had the overpriced surf and turf. Scallops were undercooked. The NY Steak had no seasoning or flavor but was over 5...
Just a bad night for all. We decided to try out this place based on the Yelp review. My wife has the baked stuffed haddock. It came to our table in a casserole dish swimming in a watery liquid and looking grey in color. Visually it was incredibly unappealing. The taste was in line with the look of the dish. Just plain bad. I had chicken tenders which were tasty. The staff tried their best to make things right. My wife got a serving of the chicken tenders which she enjoyed. The whole ordeal of getting a bad meal, having to order something else, waiting for your food while others are finishing their meal. Again the staff really tried their best to accommodate us but the food was just not that...
We went back for dinner on Valentines Day. The food was good, if it was able to stay hot. The inside was almost as cold as the outside. One of the staff members brought her infant in to work and sat her by our table while she restocked the salad bar. Yes she was cute, and we talked to her(the baby), we didn't appreciate a crying child on our date night... Salad bar was not stocked well.....never were asked how our meals were and if we wanted a refill on soda or another beer. We will go back and hopefully all of these issues will be corrected. My family and myself were looking for a place to eat one Friday night. First we went to our usual place to eat. And it was very pack. So we look around and found this place on pleasant street in Claremont. So we went in. The was hopping. But our hostess found a booth for us. The service was a little slow but was the place hopping . So being patient we got our food. The food...my world the food was outstanding. The price was under a hundred for 4 of us. We will be back and try something else on the menu.
We just moved to the area and discovered this restaurant on a whim. So glad we did! The servings were very healthy, the homemade pop overs were delicious, and the service was great even with them being so busy on a Saturday night. We will definitely be making us a regular spot for dining.
