I have dined here many times with a very large group. This time there were only 15 of us and we had booked well in advance. Theree were only 3 other small tables occupied when we arrived. The officious young lady at front of house told is we had a choice of soup or 1 entree , followed by a choice of chicken or fish for main course for $30 and that was it. Eventually , after threatening to leave, we were all allowed to order from the menu. Most others had finished eating when a free plate of lettuce and calamari was put in front of my partner and I because our meal was going to take a while. The friend opposite had finished her meal of pork belly which was exactly what we had ordered at the s...

We dine at Poppies usually about every 3-4 months and always come away saying we should come more often. The décor is basic even a bit olde worlde, but the service is excellent and nothing is a problem. The menu consists of a good variety of meals and we always have trouble choosing what to have as so many dishes appeal. We can highly recommend the smoked salmon on potato rosti entree, and the veal and steak dishes are all excellent. The servings are generous and well presented and are restaurant quality at about pub prices. Our waitress Bronwyn was pleasant and most helpful and we very much enjoyed our meal. The cold outside toilets are the only let down to an otherwise excellent small subu...

6 of us dined tonight and was wary having read the mixed reviews so here is an example of ignoring the reviews and check for yourself. Service was excellent ambience perfect and the food , well the food was ok but all dishes were smothered in sauce or gravy. Don't get me wrong, the veal dishes we had were cooked well and tasty but overpowered with gravy. Another had the belly pork and was good, another had the deep fried brains which were excellent another had the salmon and was good, so overall good, desserts were good and the chocolate soufflé very popular. We will go back and suggest you check it out as well

A warm restaurant with white table cloth on each table. You could have good conversation as the acoustics is good. A comfortable homely ambience with a good selection of food. Prices are reasonable and service is good.We had curry and garlic prawns for entree, kangaroo steak with veges and mixed seafood fritters with salad. They were delicious.
