Poppins may not make a big impression from the outside, as it is a small café in a row of terrace houses. However, do not let its appearance deceive you! Once inside, Poppins offers a delightful surprise with its extensive menu, particularly known for its afternoon teas. Unlike other places that only offer one set afternoon tea, Poppins provides a variety of options to choose from. I personally recommend the Mrs Banks, a smaller afternoon tea with a sandwich of your choice and a luxurious scone with cream and jam. The scones are exceptional, filled with cherries and incredibly soft, surpassing even those from well-known establishments in the North West. Adding a cup of soup to the Mrs Banks...
Was passing by and decided to see if there was availability. We had a table for 2 and afternoon tea for two. We waited a very long time to order, then the food came, we had at this stage drank our drinks and was waiting for a member of staff to come near us to order some more... no one came. Another table had shouted to a staff member 2x that I saw and was told ill be with you in a minute . There was no butter for the scones they was incredibly dry (not helping without the drinks) and we had 1 small pot of jam/ cream between us 1x teaspoon. There was no cutlery to cut the scones/ spread the jam/ cream and with only 1 x tea spoon you had to wipe the jam/ cream off to use in the other/ share ....
Fantastic atmosphere, service and food. We ordered two festive indulgence afternoon teas and 2 soup and salad combos. 14 year old daughter's eyes were on stalks when the afternoon tea arrived. She loved the whole experience. We are visiting family in the area are up from London and have gone out for afternoon tea numerous times but this was by far the best we have ever had. Bought some vouchers for my mother in law so she can go with a friend over the Christmas period. And we will definitely be visiting Poppins again on our next visit.
We took my brother and sister in law for an Afternoon Tea as a lunch when they came over from Yorkshire. The food was lovely and freshly made. The vegetarian options looked as lovely as mine! I went to this restaurant with my sister-in-law who had received a gift voucher for afternoon tea for two. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We were so full that we had to take our cake home! The menu offered a great variety of options. I would definitely recommend paying a visit.
Honesly the best place to eat in Horwich! The decor is very unique, the staff are so lovely and the food is exceptional! Its amazing for a birthday treat or a catch up with friends, the place has such a warm and comforting atmosphere! Feel very lucky that a place like this is on my doorstep
Never been before I dine out a lot and I must say this is the best soup and sandwich I’ve ever had . The soup was delicious and piping hot . The sandwich was amazing an abundance of filling and fantastic value for money . Would highly highly recommend. Réservez une table maintenant
