I’ve been a Porta Bella fan for years. Not sure I will go back anytime soon. 140 bucks (incl 15% tip) didn’t give me a price/value worm and fuzzy feeling. 3 people had cheese bread, small pitcher of Sangria, Porta salads, scallops pasta, fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, and pasta with vodka sauce. All the food was good. Specifically, the scallops were very tender (difficult to do), the sangria was definitely good for 2 people, but the chicken in the fettuccine was soggy. But the overall high price still didnt match the standard quality of the food. I was disappointed in the reduced menu offerings. We had not been here in years. Overall a good meal. Service was great until the server went AWOL for 25 minutes. We could see him on the phone, in a bar area and could not get his attention. It was weird. The toasted ravioli had no flavor, but the toasted bread with cheese was awesome. The main dishes were very good. The place needs a good cleaning and some touch ups of paint etc.... the easy stuff to make it better.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent and uniquely different from what I usually find. While I would skip the almonds in the alfredo next time, it was refreshing to try something new. The ambiance was fantastic, and I particularly loved the round booths. Our server was courteous, quick, and precise with our orders. This place definitely deserves a five-star rating!
It's truly disappointing to see a Madison favorite decline in quality. Our service was extremely slow, and we even had to go to the bar to request take-out containers ourselves. While the food was fantastic, the sluggish service really put a damper on our evening. I hope they can resolve these issues, as we used to really look forward to date nights here.

Porta Bella has a great atmosphere for a date night since it is dark with cozy dining nooks. There is a parking garage directly infront of the restaurant with plenty of parking! The food was delicious with great size portions. Would highly recommend the lasagna and the calamari!
Pasta was good, pizza great, garabaldi sandwich awesome, but this restaurant really shines in it's fabulous layout and decor. Private intimate layout makes conversation easy fun. Staff was friendly, really great service. Recommended.
Stopped in to get a dinner to go and the hostess and bartender were fantastic while I waited for the food. It was Sunday evening and pretty quiet...thinking of going back on a Sunday night to dine in. The food was excellent!
Shared a wonderful dinner with friends celebrating a birthday. Authentic Italian cuisine. Brooke handled all of us with ease.
