Public School Sherman Oaks

An eclectic eatery with a fun theme throughout offering a variety of hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, and breakfast brunch dishes. Public School offers a new twist to the school yard with cute names for their menu. 'Recess ' is Happy Hour. 'Liquid Education ' is their drink menu with signature cocktails and Old School drinks on every menu such as Margaritas, Vodka and Soda, Gin and Tonic. I enjoyed a juicy Public School Hamburger, which comes with Sriracha ketchup, mustard BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, and American cheese with a side of crispy fries. First time coming to this location, have also been to the Culver City location. The food here is pretty good. The bacon cheddar tots are delicious, but we only got like 6, which definitely wasn 't enough to share for 4 people. I 'm usually a meat person, but I tried the spicy citrus cauliflower bowl, which was pretty good. Wasn 't really that spicy, but it was still tasty and was a good portion of food. I had a PB&J old fashioned to drink, which was good, but the 'jelly ' part of the PB&J was very difficult to detect. The aesthetic is fun, but they could definitely lean more into the classroom vibe. So normally when I give five stars I'm going to rave about the place. I prefer to give good over bad reviews so people know the best places to go, and because, generally, the bad places are going to do themselves in on their own but I digress. Public School 818 is a very cool, unique concept and it's well done. The food was very good and the service was very good. I'm sorry I'm just not overly excited about it I think I feel it's somehow lacking something it's almost generically good. It's a neat place and you'd enjoy the setting and the food, drink, and setting for sure though.

I decided to skip dinner and opted for dessert instead. I tried the Nutella ice cream cookie sandwich. The cookie was fantastic, but the Nutella made it a bit too sweet for my liking. The vanilla ice cream didn't really stand out. The best part was definitely the cookie. My friend ordered the PB&J burger, which sounded unusual but he found it to be just okay. I also tried the cauliflower, which was delicious, but some parts were too crunchy for my taste. The flavor, however, was excellent. Our other friend ordered the bulgogi cheesesteak and really enjoyed it.
