First experience: when you walk in it's just a simple cafe. Nothing grand. However, the view of the water is nice with the exception of the construction going on across the way. You find out real quick how special and rare this place is once you sit down. Puffins does vocational teaching, where they teach the young and old alike that are special needs. I found this restaurant on Google Maps. I only gave it four stars for the same reason it deserves 10. It?s mostly staffed by people who are challenged I hope you get my drift I can?t think of the proper word. The wait person was good but a little ?rigid?, IOW he didn?t know ?Healthy Options? (versus hash browns) but he was fast and efficient. My omelette was good. There were three tables outside on the deck, on the Thames River in Groton. Fantastic! Steven was our server and we absolutely loved every minute. I stumbled on the place when walking from our motel, had a small breakfast then returned for lunch with my partner as I know he would appreciate it so much too. The food is simple butgreat! The staff is pleasant and veey happy to serve you. The atmosphere really warmed our hearts. Anyone giving less than 5stars please stay away. This place is awesome!
I absolutely loved this restaurant! The service was fantastic, and the food was outstanding. I really wish I had discovered this place earlier during my stay in Connecticut. I’ll definitely make it a point to return if I'm ever in the area again. The concept is great, and if you're nearby, you should definitely stop by to enjoy the beautiful view and delicious food. The servers were incredibly sweet as well!
Even though the were special needs working there, they were not taught matters. I work with special needs an we teach them life skills, they didn't use matters and they threw the menu at us. Plus our pancakes were dry and crusty, my eggs were soaked inbutter. Sorry. But the view of the water was the best.
LOVED this place! Loved our service and the food was stellar. Wish we had found this place earlier in our visit to CT. Will remember to go here if I am ever back in town. Love the concept and if you are near here you must stop by and enjoy the view andwonderful food. Sweet servers too!

They serve an excellent breakfast here. The raisin bread is delightful and tastes just like it was made at home.
