We came here on a bit of a whim, owing to its central location right next to the Baths. Having not booked we were greeted warmly and offered a table near the stage. It was wonderful to be able to hear the musicians so well but it wasn’t so loud as to be overly distracting and we were still able to converse and enjoy our afternoon tea with this accompaniment. The room itself deserves comment too- absolutely beautiful, it feels like a decidedly appropriate setting for a grand afternoon tea. The food itself was delicious. Sandwiches, savouries and cakes were almost perfect and you could taste their quality. When you’re presented with an afternoon tea it always feels you’re being ripped off, as...

We went for a traditional afternoon tea. It's very easy to find the restaurant is located right in the heart of Bath. We were booked for 12 pm, their first slot of a day, however, we had to queue to enter both pre booked and walk in come at the same time and share the same queue. The environment is peaceful, there is a reasonable distance between tables and you feel quite private. Their pianist was fantastic, he played well known pieces of music with his own improvisations. Slightly let down as it didn't look like everyone was served at the similar time there was a couple who were brought their tea first and the food after, while we were waiting for someone to approach us, and once we were b...

I took three friends to the Bath Pump Room restaurant for some expensive cocktails and even more expensive high teas. Cocktails and Food were quite nice but we were served by an incredibly rude blond east European girl. She started by telling us that it was impossible to split the bill for the cocktails and high tea as that was how she did it and there was no other option even if we placed 2 separate orders. Then soon after we received our cocktails the high teas arrived which we sent back as we didn’t want the teas to get cold. She then came to our table to berate us for this. She seemed to think we had to be finished in 90 minutes and we had to have everything at the same time. When we obj...

Went as a birthday treat and offered a true traditional British experience … great location and the selection of savouries, sandwiches, scones and cakes was amazing! We pre ordered the smoked salmon starter as we thought we’d be getting very little but that was a mistake! There was more than enough having said that, the salmon was beautiful! Only two criticisms was that the trio playing seemed to spend more time talking amongst themselves than actually playing! (But when they did, they were so talented) and that at the end the waitress, who had been really attentive throughout, arrived at the table with a bill (we had prepaid) and a credit card machine for a tip! £14. We would of course have... Réservez une table maintenant

The very best Afternoon Tea I have ever experienced and would highly recommend. The ambience, the amazing food and the musical composition made the whole experience a once in a lifetime experience. As a vegan, it seems difficult for most places to cater for me, especially when it comes to Afternoon Tea, which is one of my favourite treats! However, the Pump Room far exceeded my expectations, the infusion of flavours in the savory dishes was incredible and the vegan scones were light and fluffy! I actually couldn't finish the cakes, but they were mouth watering. My compliments to the Chef; I will definitely be returning : The musicians were very talented and they completed the entire experien...

We enjoyed our afternoon tea, service was a little slow initially as although we were one of the first tables to be seated we didn’t get our tea stand for about 40 minutes but once it arrived it was very nice. Staff were all helpful and friendly. The musicians played the pride and prejudice theme tune which everyone seemed to enjoy. I’ve been to lots of afternoon teas including a very famous london hotel and overall I felt this was a little overpriced at £38.50 pp particularly as the jam was just a tiny jar for the price it would have been nicer in a small dish like the cream but nevertheless we are glad we experienced it as the Pump Room is a beautiful setting.

Afternoon tea at the Pump Room in Bath. Avoid!! Wait in a queue in a hallway all cramped up for 15/20 minutes. Takes 40 minutes to get served anything. Get served non vegetarian food to a vegetarian. Get served stale sandwiches. And to boot ask for another £25 tip at the end. £50 a head what a rip off. Underwhelming and truly disappointing. Only thing that can be said is that they must have made a lot of profit Merry Christmas to the Pump Room. Catering is from outside as well which could be why it’s all stale. Thankfully as a family we were able to laugh at the awfulness of the experience. Humour got us through it spend your hard earned cash elsewhere,

Extremely disappointing! Been to Bath in the past but this time able to go for afternoon tea to this place. At over £40.00 for one afternoon tea is not only very expensive for a meagre portion but then to add on a discretionary service charge when the service is less than satisfactory is well………… Given luke warm tea for afternoon tea in less than satisfactory would you not say? Then when asked for hot water to top up tea with hot water waitress brings out ice water!!!! Return? Probably not! What a shame!!! Réservez une table maintenant

A group of six of us were able to have high tea at the beautiful Pump Room. We all felt it was one of the best teas we have ever had and was one of the highlights of our 2 week stay in England. Be sure to book ahead and don't miss this opportunity to dine in this lovely room steeped in history.
