I've been loving this restaurant for years. I come here semi-regularly, but I had a really negative experience here last night. Me (a brown person) and my (white passing) friend came here, and our server, Penny, was especially rude to me. She was very blatantly racist towards me. She would only make eye contact with my friend and look at them when asking what we wanted to eat. I was very polite, and yet every time I spoke to her to make an order or ask a question, she kept looking shocked I was even speaking to her. My #thankyouthursday review is late but, for Pura Vita, it was worth the wait because it is also a Thanksgiving review! Truly special! We came here for the Thanksgiving Feast special. The plate contains maplewood smoked jackfruit, porcino mushroom gravy, sage apple ciabatta stuffing, roasted garlic whipped potatoes, candied Brussels sprouts, and cranberry sauce. It is vegan comfort food on a plate! So good! The Thanksgiving feast is an annual special on the menu that starts the week before Thanksgiving and is available until the day before Thanksgiving Day. Newish vegans at the time, this is a joint my wife would regularly talk about wanting to come back whenever she had the opportunity to discuss. We live in the Bay Area and we don't frequently visit SoCal as much as we probably should. Wow. Food: Took my vegan date to this place which is plant based dining. The reviews said that it wasn 't just good plant based food and that it was actually just plain good food and they were 100% accurate- good is an understatement Idk what they put in it but it was absolutely delicious and my date loved it as well. Service: really good and attentive Ambiance: So there 's two halves one with a bar and a small area with tables and next door there 's a pizzeria which I booked the reservation having never been here and me and my counterpart had the place to ourselves for some of the date. Perfect for a romantic date night or casual hangout with friends. The food is top-notch! The menu is extensive and the flavors are carefully crafted. The kale Caesar salad is unmatched in the city. I also enjoyed the margarita pizza and Brussels sprouts. The hostess was wonderful, helping us with our reservation mix-up and finding a table for us. Our server, Tom, truly went above and beyond to make our experience special. He was attentive, friendly, professional, and passionate. Thanks to Tom and the Pura Vita team for a fantastic evening.
I am thoroughly impressed! My colleague brought me to this restaurant and I was amazed. The bread and pizza were definitely my favorites. Without a doubt, the best vegan food I have ever tasted. Their drinks are also amazing. The atmosphere inside is lovely, not too fancy but nice. Our waiter was very sweet and provided excellent service. This place has delicious food and is a perfect spot for a date.
We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! We were fortunate enough to be seated last minute on a Saturday night. The food was incredibly tasty – I didn't even realize it was vegan until after the meal! The flavors were expertly combined, and the staff struck the perfect balance of attentiveness. I had dinner here last night while in LA, and realized I've never written a review! Pura Vita is one of my favorite vegan restaurants. It's on the pricier, fancier side but I enjoy the ambience and especially the food. I've had various dishes over the years and none of them have disappointed. The service is super quick too. Greek goddess salad is one of the best salads in LA. But for a wine bar/ fine dining experience, the music is often too loud. Also, the bruschetta was dry, burnt tasting not in a good way, and the warm tomatoes on it were an odd surprise for me. Still, a good place to bring anyone for a filling dinner.
