No sign of Duane Pride wasn 't in the house, nor any NOLA NCIS agents. What would be called the Tru Tone bar on TV is a much different picture in real life. This primarily local 's hangout is still quite an impressive view from the street, the wrap around balcony really brings the facade to life here. Being situated in a residential area I would have expected to at least find an open table for a couple drinks, I can clearly understand why they call themselves a communitycenter. Bring your quarters for the jukebox, you won 't find any live music at the R Bar, but on Monday evenings you can get a haircut and a shot, just make sure it 's not the barber joining you for a shot. Unlike Dr. Who 's tardis, this baris definitely bigger on the outside, maybe it was the impression I got from TV, I was not expecting it to be that small which is why I waited for seating to open up outside. This place is also home to the Royal Street Inn on the secondfloor, and although I had not seen it in person, the photos online make the suites look very impressive. I am a fan of the local hangouts when I travel, this is one of them I would stop back into when I am in NOLA next. Cheers!
We happened across this hotel through the Hotel Tonight app. Only 5 rooms are available with each having its own theme. We stayed in the Mississippi. The room was beautiful and very clean, the staff was so welcoming and helpful with anything at all. Some of the best sleep I've ever had in the amazing bed with soft sheets, the pillows were fluffy, coffee was incredible, temperature of the room. The sounds from the bar below did not disturb us at all. Just a bit of thebass could be heard, but it was comforting and lulled us right to sleep. The area is really nice and felt safe, and was not far from lively spots for a drink or bite. Saving this place for the next visit!
The funny thing is I accidentally booked this hotel on an app I was using. Best thing that could have happened! This place is wonderful! Best location, best rooms, best service. My boyfriend and I went to stay for his birthday, when we arrived I was worried we would hear the bar downstairs. It was super quiet and all the rooms have their own theme with a home feel. We ended up staying 3 nights in hopes to see all different rooms. We stayed in Mississippi and LA Sarina. Iloved the Mississippi! I will definitely be back!
Rooms were very clean and updated! Really loved the vibe in the rooms! Didn't really know what to think at first but so glad we ended up staying the people were very nice and professional! Will definitely be back. Ps the rooms were very quiet. Couldn't hear anything from ours even with lots of people around outside.
