We were invited to lunch by an old college friend who had been judge in Laredo and now lives in Santander. In previous visits to Spain we visited him and his wife in Santander and eaten at the Nautico there. No comparison. The Laredo version is a couple of notches upscale in qualify of food and service. This time enjoying the view of the estuary of Santona Bay. We chose the fabes (buttery large beans from Asturias) with clams and the generous portions of turbot grilled to perfection. That washed down with a good Albarino was a perfect combination. Less satisfying was the cheese- based cuajada dessert. It is unclear whether the restaurant is open to non-members, but if it is, make the effort...
Restaurante en el Club Náutico de Laredo. La ubicación y paisaje es inigualable en plena ría. Entorno cuidado y agradable. Tomamos en una terraza que está al exterior el aperitivo y pasamos después al comedor. Toda la comida muy buena, tal vez demasiado pero era una reunión de grupo de amigos y suele pasar. Tomamos de entrantes ensalada de perdiz, pulpo gratinado con patata y setas muy bueno, nunca lo había probado así , almejas a la marinera y unos pates de bienvenida. Dos pescados a la brasa, uno de ellos era Rodaballo, los dos estupendos acompañados con patatas panadera. Entrecot cortado al punto con patatas y pimientos. De postre tres tipos diferentes de tartas. The personnel is very unfriendly and agressive. I strongly don't recommend to go there. There are hundreds of better places in the north of Spain. I cannot evaluate the food. Due to the agressive old man on the parking, I did not enter.
Buena cocina, excelente servicio, inmejorablesv' espacio y ambiente, bellísimas vistas. Amplitud, comodidad, tranquilidad... Un placer. Y una opción segura para quienes hemos de evitar rigurosamente el gluten.
