tasty tasty but even better service! we stopped at the weekend of the Christkindl market, so it was pretty busy. ordered a few hot drinks and baked, just to find that the drinks were lukewarm, at best. they took back theke and spoke with a woman I suspected was the owner (not the same person who had made the drinks.) she apologised and offered them immediately to either avoid or reheat them. the reheating was good, I just wanted our hot drinks to be hot! She brought them out again, with another apology, and they were perfect and tasty. a few minutes later, she came to our table and offered a free cookie for the hassle that we ultimately rejected, as we could already enjoy the baked goods we...

This is a cute place and if you can find something on the menu you like it could be a great regular stop, but the selection is pretty small. Their breads look amazing although I didn't buy any because I needed to pick up pastries for a group. They were okay and better than I could make but nothing special. The chocolate croissant was overpriced at $4.50 each and hardly had any chocolate inside. I ended up having to make another stop to get the rest of the pastries I needed due to limited selection.The other downside is that the hours of operation are very limiting. I live in the area and would love to stop in when I walk my dog in the mornings, but I have to work at 8 AM so am unable. Most p...

a friend recommended red bench because her coffee is great. my recommendations? go for the coffee and stay for the amazing baked. we regularly grab a handful to be home and everything is great enough to share (although they may not want to, is also the brot tasty. big and quick service and if there is a line, it only means that they have a few extra minutes to choose from all major options (or get them all).

I was there 3 times, trying to catch fresh croissants. Never happend, even at 11 am they were not fresh. One day, I met the guy at Costco at West End, buying 5 boxes of croissants and 5 boxes of bagels. The problem, he was selling me a croissant the day before at Red Bench Bakery. Terrific pastries, and a good location. The patio is dog-friendly and a wonderful place to sit and eat. The coffee is very good, but the main focus is on the baked goods and rightfully so. Each item I tried could have been the stand-out special at most other cafes.

Just off the bike trail, a great option for a quick snack (cookies, croissants or lovely quiche. And the sandwiches might be a great option to take to Excelsior Brewing, just across the street. Many items would travel well for the bike trip home, ours did.

if they have not tried the chocolate mandel croissant or kouign-amann at red bench bakery, they are crazy! delicious. I'm also a big fan of their scenes. ?
