I visited this restaurant yesterday for lunch after their renovation. We were greeted by three staff members who were multitasking by running the bar, serving in the restaurant, and delivering food. The starters were decent, but the Cauliflower Bits with Paprika were soggy. The meat in both of our main dishes was dry, giving us the impression that it had been cooked and reheated. Although it was edible, we considered sending it back. We were surprised that no one checked on our table during the meal. This was not the experience we were expecting and we do not plan on returning anytime soon. It was not the same as we remembered it being.
I recently visited the Red Lion in Shrewsbury for the second time and once again, I was extremely impressed with the exceptional service. The staff were friendly, the food was amazing, and the Gammon I ordered was cooked to perfection. The tableware was spotless and the menu was easy to read. The restroom facilities were also very clean. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant as it offers fantastic value for money. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Shrewsbury.
My husband and I visited the Red Lion Pub in Shrewsbury after it was renovated in May/June 2023 and we were very impressed. The new interior was modern and inviting, creating a lovely atmosphere. As a vegetarian, I was happy to see a range of options on the menu. The food we ordered was served hot and tasted fantastic, even during the peak hours. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience.
My wife and I called into the Red Lion for a casual lunch on a Saturday afternoon on our way home from a visit to Shrewsbury. What a pleasant surprise, this pub has had mixed fortunes over the years but currently it is faultless. It was very busy but I have to say the service the food exceeded our expectations from past experience. Also very good prices, we will be back !.

What a discovery this place is. We had a three course meal that was hot, tasty, brought to the table quickly and didn’t break the bank. All served with a friendly smile. What more could we ask for. Thanks very much. We’ll be back and recommend to family and friends
