I was solo hiking from Seez to Refuge de la Gittaz. A very long, tiring day, and with weather warning of possible thunder, I was in a hurry to get to the refuge. Just before reaching it, there's an incredible rocky cliff path you walk along, with exposed edge that drops into the river. Fascinating! I was so relieved to arrive, as it began to rain. I was welcomed by Eric, who was also my email contact. Great, kind host! To my surprise, I was the only person staying there in the refuge! With my limited French, I relaxed with Eric and his wife Katy and friends, sipping beer and they offered me a glass of anis-flavoured drink called Pastis Des Alpes. Quelle belle découverte que ce refuge sur le sentier des plus beaux parcours de la région. Accueil très chaleureux et amical, bonne cuisine, bel endroit à découvrir avec le barrage de Gittaz en contrebas. Possibilité d'y accéder en voiture, en VTT ou à pied. À inscrire dans vos carnets de randonnée ! ️

Excellent welcome, Yann and Éric take great care and provide excellent advice. The food is very good and the setting is just magnificent. Beautiful walks to do around.
