My girlfriend and I were travelling all over the city for an hour looking for the right burger place (she had massive cravings for burgers). However, thanks to social media and the positive reviews written about it we thought we'd give Relish'd a try. Wow what a lovely first experience! If you are a big burger fan, Relish'd is definitely worth visiting!! My burger, onion rings, and sweet potato wedges ticked all the boxes for me in terms of taste. I love burgers! Relish'd was highly recommended by friends to me, so I along with some friends decided to go for a bike ride down and check it out. The interior design is what you expect from a burger bar, simple, modern with the large grill at the front so the whole place is covered in the aroma of sizzling beef and bacon (heaven!). I decided to go for the Oink Burger with an extra egg, because I love my bacon & egg. The wait for the food wasn't long at all. Presentation wise, the burger looks fantastic. For me Relish'd sits somewhere between average and above average. The burgers are nice compared to something you'd get from a fish and chip shop but not as nice as many other gourmet burgers that you can get across Adelaide. They often do coupons on various online voucher sites, so if you can find a coupon it's pretty good value. Don't expect fast food - I work a couple of doors down and every time I've been there, I've spent my whole half-hour lunch break waiting for my food to be cooked. The front door is always wide open and I don't think I've ever seen the air-conditioning/heating turned on in the shop. Came here on a Sunday afternoon, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. On the recommendation of the staff we ordered the crowd favourites; the Oink Burger and the Big Easy Burger, with a side of chillie cheese fries. The fries were OK, the chips were a bit too chunky and soft, which made the dish mushy, but the sauce was nice. The Big Easy was massive and had a bit too much sauce which overpowered the taste of the patty. The oink burger was the favourite as it was just right, good amount of sauce, nice amount of onion relish and good combination of flavours, although meat patty waw a little dry. Overall good burgers, not amazing, a little greasy.
Have eaten here many times in the past 3 years and have previously loved it. Have found that gradually over the last 6-12 months things have been slipping. My most recent visit, only 1 single can in the fridge at 1pm! Then only offered alternative water or room temperature can, poor service. People behind me also ordered something that was unavailable. Get home to find the once fantastic Rosemary salted chips were just soggy frozen chips and chicken in burger covered less than 1/2 burger. Think it might be time to give this place a miss for a while until the standards pick up.
Food is great. Can't fault it except perhaps in size of portion sometimes. Service is terrible, usually quite slow. Also, went out of my way a few days ago to show a coeliac friend this place as they have gluten free buns. Arrived a little early and killed some time. Doors opened at 11am so we went to walk in. Two workers are in there mopping the floor and told us to come back in 20 minutes when they are ready. Perhaps just have a later opening time if you aren't ready to start serving.
