Mit Freunden haben wir die Alpenrose in Zürich für Nachtessen besucht. Das Lokal erinnert etwas an eine Quartierbeiz mit Art-Déco Elementen. Die 'Tischdichte' ist in Ordnung, allzu Vertrauliches mag man hier aber weniger diskutieren. Wobei wir uns nie gestört gefühlt hatten. Die von Hand geschriebene, einfache Speisekarte passt hervorragend zum Lokal. Zur Vorspeise gab es Lattichsalat (knackig gut mit rassiger Sauce) und Saiblingsfilet auf Kräutersalat. Dieses vermochte allerdings nicht ganz zu überzeugen. Zur Hauptspeise dann Suure Moke und die überbackenen Spätzli mit einem Hirschsalsiz (Vorspeise). Alles wunderbar und sehr fein. I accidentally dropped by into Alpenrose walking around. Situated in a corner not yet in the heart of the core it looked perfect for a quick dinner alone. Once got in, the sophisticated but welcoming atmosphere, the smile and the kindness of the staff, made me fell home. The menu is made of Swiss meals and local food. All the main courses are served with vegetables and other sides ( spatzli, bread...). I got a Troute and it was simply perfect. Nothing pretentious, good fish, good herbal toppings with no sauces, no wired stuff. Grilled fish and vegetables, exactly what I wanted. I'm gonna back asap ;)
though we sat inside and not in good weather outside for 7 pm restaurant, there was nothing we missed, when it came to this honest & good experience. The portions are quite big so unless you are starving please don't order more. Short menu and friendly host. We ordered the yummy spargel soup, the grilled trout and steak with some recommended red wine. they spoil you with a yummy side salad dish. Though I was full to eat all my main course, its the richness of food and cozy ambiance that makes me recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I were really pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The decor was really quaint "Swiss-like" but not over the top. Nice interior and lovely dishes and decor.The food was spot on - homemade but with a fancy touch that would be hard to duplicate from the home. The service was attentive and pleasant. Nice change from some of the other spots and a good neighborhood "locals" kind of place.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen, unser Blumenstrauss wurde sofort eingestellt und bei uns in der Nähe wunderschön platziert, die Bedienung war stets aufmerksam, freundlich und leidenschaftlich bei der Arbeit, das Essen war ein Traum, das Ambiente auch und der Preis stimmte auch ganz und gar. Ein absolut perfekter Abend!
Die Alpenrose WAR unter der alten Führung das wunderbarste Restaurant von Zürich! Schade, dass die neuen Betreiber statt eines kreativen Neuanfangs nur einen schalen Abklatsch des Originals gewagt haben.Heute riskiert man, einen Kalbsbraten auf einem rosaroten (!) Teller serviert zu bekommen.

Just got out of a short lunch break and felt compelled to write about this restaurant. In a nutshell: short menu, all fresh and tasty - including a terrific bread -, fairly priced and especially: staff taking Care, with capital "C"!Got really pampered, back to work now!
