Restaurant Bietschhorn

Wir wollten im Restaurant Bietschorn etwas zu Mittag essen und waren etwa um 12.00 Uhr dort. Wir meldeten uns im Schankraum und fragten, ob wir draussen essen dürften, was bejaht wurde. Und dann sassen wir da und warteten über 20 Minuten, bis es uns zu blöd wurde und wir woanders essen gingen. Das Restaurant war zu diesem Zeitpunkt fast leer. An der Überlastung kann es also nicht gelegen haben. Mangelndes Interesse am Gast?

Stayed at this family hotel and ate at the restaurant on both nights. The chef is great! We pre-ordered the wild venison and it was amazingly delicious with only a very slight 'gamey ' flavour. All the accompaniments blended well and the portions were humongous! No place for the chestnut dessert but we had sampled that the previous evening. Good wine suggestions also.

Endlich mal ein Lokal, das nicht die typische 08/15-Küche anbietet. Tolle Speisenauswahl. Man merkt, dass der Koch nicht nur etwas von seinem Handwerk versteht, sondern auch Wert auf die Qualität der Zutaten legt. Dies zeigt sich dann in unverschämt leckerem Essen in Bio-Qualität, welches die Liebe des Koches zu seinem Beruf wiederspiegelt. Ist den Preis absolut wert!

Family run guest-house and restaurant: amiable host, clean and cosy rooms (including shared bathroom and shower , great food (seasonal and home-made , and fantastic breakfast (buffet with local and home-made products – superb pear marmalade! . The beauty of the valley is unbeatable, and if you get a window with view... you cannot ask for more!

We stopped here for lunch after travelling though the Lotschberg tunnel. We both had the Kaeseschnitten (cheese on toast) and it was delicious. The restaurant has a lovely flower-lined terrace and views across to the green slopes of the valley. A great pit stop in this lovely part of the world.
