In our visit to Switzerland in August we got to tour this wonderful site. My mother in law was actually related (by marriage) to the gal who gave us our tour. I thought that watching Swiss Cheese being made might be as exciting as watching paint dry. Boy was I wrong! The Restaurant and cheese making facility are just a short trip Northwest from the city of Bern. It is WELL worth the trip to see this. Upon arriving there is a little shop that has pastries Danish, etc. . Very tasty and very good. There is a shop that helps with all things tourism, along with Swiss knives of course. Wir waren an einem der ersten schönen Sonntage in diesem Jahr hier. Das Lokal war mit Rentnern gefüllt, die schwatzend vor ihren leeren Kaffeetassen sassen und auch nicht gewillt waren, diesen gemütlichen Platz frei zu geben. Die bediente Aussen-Terrasse war nicht bereit, offensichtlich hatte man die Wetterprognose nicht studiert. Die andere Terrasse ist unbedient, in Selbstbedienung und auch diese war überfüllt. Wir fanden dennoch einen Platz. Damit begann das Anstehen und das Sich-Wundern. Die Selbstbedienung wurde von einer Person an der Kasse betreut. Lovely place in Swiss nature AND actually quite interesting to see the actual production of Emmenthal Cheese and the history of it. Also the century old Bernese Houses are incredibly beautiful.The Restaurant itself, however, is average only. The cheese dishes are above average but the rest is clearly not. The service staff is is also average. (a bit typically swiss....:-)Overall, the whole cheesefactory/museeum I will visit again - but I will only sit down for a drink in the restaurant......

We were able to go on a wonderful team outing at the Emmental cheese dairy, including making Königsweg and Stöckli cheese. The highlight was delicious cheese with the meal. All employees are very welcoming. We can highly recommend the Schaukäsi as an excursion!
We had a big pot of Cheese fondue and some wine with lunch. Very good! Service was prompt and very friendly. We spoke no Swiss German and they were able to speak English. Quite a nice situation. They have a full menu, with all the traditional Swiss items on it.
Die Schaukäserei liegt an einem herrlichen Aussichtspunkt. Ein Fussmarsch vor oder nach dem Essen muss sein. Das Restaurant bietet tolle Frückstücksvarianten an. Auch bestens geeignet für andere Gelegenheiten. Bester Käse und vor allem frischer Butter!
Das Frühstück war einfach klasse. Alles, aber auch alles was das Herz begehrt. Jedermann ob gross oder klein findet eine grosse und leckere Auswahl. Die anschliessende Führung wie man Käse herstellt war sehr interessant und super organisiert.

Wir gehen regelmässig nach Affoltern i.E. Schon lange wollten wir dort eine Militär-Käseschnitte essen und habe diese bestellt. Leider waren wir sehr enttäuscht über diese Käseschnitte. Weder Geschmack noch Käsequalität waren gut.
