My family and I went for lunch to the restaurant du Fort du Saint-Eynard early August 2014. Sunny day, beautiful weather. I had been there a couple times in the past (my parents live not very far from the Saint-Eynard).The restaurant is located on the top of the Saint-Eynard in an old 19th century military fort that offers a gorgeous standpoint overlooking Grenoble and its surrounding valleys. The restaurant is decorated with plenty of old French products giving a nice and quiet atmosphere to the place. We all took the 28€ menu. The charcuterie was nothing really special (average quality), neither was the paté. The hot saucisson was good but served in too small quantity. The duck wing, as usual, was crispy and tasty (a little fat too) and the gratin dauphinois (potatos with cream) was slightly too liquid (not cooked long enough) yet tasty. The fromages blanc were small but tasty (served with their home-made jam). Bread was good but not wonderful. We also ordered half a bottle of wine of reasonable quality. Coffees were not included in the menus, which was a little disappointing and added to an already very expensive bill.Overall we had a good time there. The staff is friendly and efficient and while the food isn't bad at all (I enjoyed it despite the few things that could be improved), you would definitely not miss this restaurant (on a sunny day!) for the atmosphere and especially, especially the location.
