We visited this place with my wife and our infant. There were many free tables without a reservation sign and a few that were reserved. We saw a free table for four persons which would suit us, because we needed the extra space for the baby wagon and also my wife would have the privacy she needed to nurse our baby. I asked the waitress (Chefin) if we could sit there and she showed me another table for two persons. The answer was not clear and I didn 't understand if it was just a recommendation. Traditional, delicious food in a cozy restaurant, known for Cordon Bleu in all variations, but there are also 'normal ' home style dishes on the menu so far always great in taste, plates beautifully presented and ideal for a cozy company event The service was friendly and personable, orders were taken quickly and brought to the table – great. The only drawback is that it 's too loud for me personally, but that should just be a bit 'normal '. Conclusion: anytime and gladly again
As I’ve never been to Switzerland, I have no idea whether this restaurant is “authentic “ or whether it primarily caters to tourists. While there seemed to be many other tourists dining with us, I thought the food was excellent. We both had cordon bleu and they were outstanding. The vegetable and spatzle sides were very good as well. Service was top notch. All in all, this was an outstanding place for our first dinner here. Highly recommend.
Really delicious food, many gluten-free options and my table was given a little flag, so it was clear for all waiting staff etc. Service was also excellent. I'd give 5 stars up! But I also have to eat milk-free and that was more difficult. The majority of dishes involved cheese and there were few options for vegetables, and less when for vegan, it is an *very * meat based menu.

Ich war letzte Woche mit meinen Freunden wiedereinmal im Gifthüttli, die Cordon Bleus waren sehr fein wir hatten alle verschiedene Füllungen und der Service war genial, freundlich, aufmerksam und wir wurden rundum super betreut. Die Gastgeberin ist sehr professionell!Wir kommen wieder!!! :))
Central location, rustic atmosphere, very friendly and fast service. Clean restaurant area. Small patio area. Toilet very narrow. Fantastic Cordon Bleu and mega dessert. Be sure to reserve. We moved from the terrace to the inside, which posed no problems. Simply great service
