Restaurant Gutshof

It was our first visit to Kassel for business and our first dining experience in this city. The atmosphere and the meals were great but the way one particular waitress (in black striped shirt) treated us was rather shocking... not only was she unfriendly .. she didn't even bother re-set the table (after the last customers) for us and asked my husband to grab the knife and fork from the other side himself. After some unpleasant look from our side I guess she thought we were hostile and then stopped coming to our table. We could see how she "discussed" with her colleagues behind the bar. If you are not a regular customer or look "foreign", don't expect to be treated like a normal customer. We only feel sorry for the young girl whom the waitress bossed around to get us the bill (while this was supposed to be done by herself). A pity that the waitress in black striped shirt doesn't respect her own profession as she's supposed to.

From the movie beach - we all want to find a piece of home when traveling. For me it means good food and wine. After a very low point on our first night in Kassel. We were so delighted to find Gutshof via mechilin guide.Exceptionally well selected wine list. When I say exceptionally it is. Believe me. Lam's rack is well prepared, tender and pink.Very lucky we could sit outside the whole evening and the owner was very attentive, dropping by from time to time. We came back the day afterwords - which does not happen very often in our traveling as we love to explore. But yes when the wine and food are so pleasantly surprise I think I have found a piece of home in Kassel.

This Michelin recommended restaurant does not disappoint, its meat oriented menu provides an excellent choice of German favourites, soft tempting schnitzel, nicely rare veal casoulet, juicy ox cheek stew. The desserts don't thrill on the menu but we all enjoyed light cinnamon sprinkled crime brûlée and rich creamy but quickly vanishing coconut ice delight. Sweet waiters and an uplifting al fresco environment made this a happy and positive dining experience in Kassel.

Great location, located directly on the main entry road into the Wilhemshoehe park. The restaurant is a traditional German style restaurant with a Biergarten at the back. The meal was great, price was reasonable and the taste was totally worth it! The restaurant was already rated by number of by food critics!

Good value for money German food and fast service !! we didn't make a reservation but got a table for 2 for 2 hours, which was enough for us to have a good dinner The food was good quality German food and we had enough
