There are two decent sources for poutine in Beford. Barry's and La Pataterie. While Barry's has better fries, the best gravy is at La Pataterie... and poutine aficionados generally agree, gravy wins the day. Clean and friendly, this place as with most patateries doesn't look...like much from the outside, but the locals turnout daily for the fare. They also have hotdogs, but you can find decent hotdogs many places. I go there every time I'm in the area. I ask one equalizing question when I do my ratings... would I sacrifice to eat here The answer for Bedford's La Pataterie is most certainly yes.
I read the reviews and then spoke to a fellow poutine fanatic in Bedford. She preferred this place for one aspect, and Barry's for another aspect (The vagueness is intentional because I encourage you to make your own comparison and draw you own conclusions). I...thought the poutine here was great in all ways. Their biggest edge was in being 35 cheaper for exactly the same order. They are also a little homier, and in a less busy spot. Close to both Vermont and Montreal, this place is on my short list for future visits to the area.
this kantine is a miracle. it has its standard hot dog, burger without great fan-tarife but the poutine is heavenly. yes heavenly. crisp double fired fires, queaky curd cheese and a sauce that melts it together. it could be a powder based...but regardless of that they only have the right mix to let these poutins sing!
