Passing by this beautiful little village whilst sailing up the Rhone we fell upon this restaurant. We had spied it many years before but had been closed. Situated in a tiny square with a terrace, beneath which a family of about 16 were seated happily eating. Inside was a tastefully decorated one room and bar with plenty of tables occupied. We were met with a warm welcome and good service. The food was excellent with menu du jour at 14.50 euros inc. wine. The wine was local and excellent.The village is worth a detour or stop on the Rhone as a new pontoon has been made for passing boats. There is a cave in the village which will deliver to your boat and the price and quality is superb. Altogether an unforgettable experience.
This is our second year of a week-long daily lunches at La Pergola. As attendees at a philosophy course at the Centre Erasme nearby, we have lunch each day at La Pergola. Each day, they efficiently serve a group of fifteen, or so, from the Centre, a three-course meal accompanied by a decent wine. Vegetarians are also provided with appropriate meals. The outdoor seating arrangement is also part of what makes it all work. I truly enjoyed lunch at La Pergola two years in a row.
We asked for La Pergola to cater and serve seven evening meals for our group of 30 people in Ardeche, and the owner and her husband did a fantastic job. They charged reasonably, were always reliable and were gracious even when we were late. Everyone in our group thought they'd eaten delicious meals and looked forward to every evening as a result. Don't miss Pergola's grilled salmon, their dauphinois potatoes and their creme brulee!
