Sankt Gallen has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine, but the Lagerhaus is a place where you can always have a good lunch or dinner. The menu is well sorted and clear, the ingredients for the dishes are fresh and local and you will always be full. The service is quick, competent, helpful and always has a friendly smile when you enter or place an order. The premises were once former warehouses, but the atmosphere is open, warm and friendly and you feel welcome. The service was great, but unfortunately the food was a bit of a flop... I can't recommend prawns al ajillo (weird taste from the dried tomatoes). The squid was delicious. In the main course, the meat (secret cut of beef and rack of lamb) was overcooked twice. The service was very uncomplicated and brought us both a new piece. The fries were almost inedible. In retrospect, it was partly our own fault because the prawns say that they come with dried tomatoes and the fries are made with seasonal potatoes, which is why they are not crispy (better no fries than limp fries). I expected more quality from a restaurant like this. We both had digestive problems during the night...
The restaurant is a perfect place for couple at a romantic date or group like us. We came with more than 25 people and stayed till late. The restaurant gave us a welcome greeting and great service. We had rib eye steak with fries and fresh vegetables. The steak was cooked beautifully and fries were fresh and crispy. For dessert, we had Molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.
