A real find. We would probably have walked past this place had we not picked it up on a trip advisor review as it looks very basic - but that's actually part of the charm. Completely unpretentious in every way, the food is very hearty and filling. A really refreshing change from the ubiquitous mussels and crepes that are on offer everything else. We'd never had Alsation food before, and it seems much closer to traditional German cuisine than French. The main focus seems to be on meats, bacon and potatoes, though my wife had smoked haddock which was sublime. The amount of food on the €16 set menu is enough to sink a battleship, and the Alsation wine, whilst a little expensive, is top quality....

We first went here because we had visited Alsace 2 years ago and enjoyed it immensely. The food at L'Alsacien was very close to what we had in Alsace even down to the green stemmed glasses. In the end we used the restaurant several time. The choucroute was good and honest, the flammkuech was well done. and sitting having a glass of Reisling and a coffee and watching the world go by all part of the experience. They also served 12 oysters that I can say were the best I have ever eaten.
HOME cooking true to Alsace. Makes a great change> the food was made with pride and care and served with friendly kindness. The owner is lovely and looked up pictures in a cookbook to show me the dishes I did not know. All is well made and delicious. It is a sweet place with good food and a nice ambiance of a neighborhood restaurant. The wines were delicious .. we had 3 different ones and all super good. Homemade desserts again made with pride and love. THis is France at its best. Réservez une table maintenant
This was a return visit for us after last year.Once again we used the restaurant twice. On both occasions the food was really good and authentic of the Alsace region. You need to know that its a lot of meat and sausages (which is good)Its also worth noting that a very pleasant way to break the walk down the main street to the harbour. try a coffee and a glass of reisling (alsacian reisling) and watch the world go by.
Just had lunch here and it was great. Two beers for me and one Christmas beer for my good lady then tourte of pork with sauteed potatoes two side salads, bread and one coffee for less than €30. Food was lovely, charming host and i would definitely go again, soon! Also we were in our cycling gear and this was not a problem for the hosts. An excellent discovery.
we came all the way from australia, and found the restaurant by accident. Good luck! A nice place, lovely house, and tastefull food. Fish choucroute and chicken burn in a cognac sauce.Thank you for translating your map and your history. We love the home cooker.James and Sahra
A small walk from the beach you'll find this small restaurant serving winter food. The food is good and the people friendly. We were the only one in the restaurant, but with 3 kids that is not bad ;-) Réservez une table maintenant
