A visit in July to this unpretentious restaurant close to the market in Royan with 12 year old grandson in tow. He 's more adventurous about his food than many but still cautious when 'foreign '. We were the first customers in the evening and the staff were excellent. Orders were taken without either rush or delay and they took pains to make the young chap feel relaxed. After some indecision he was persuaded to try the confit since he is known to like duck. After the first mouthful, the next we heard from him was when he asked to have another plate, it was evidently delicious. Of our food I can say little other than it was well presented and delicious since our attention was on his enjoyment...

The first time I’ve been in a ‘real’ French restaurant that didn’t serve pizzas and burgers. I was lucky with friends that spoke french and allowed me to practice mine. Very nerve racking but the staff were amazing. The menu was explained with unusual things on the menu like foamed pepper! I chose the pork which was done perfectly in a apple sauce with beautifully cooked vegetables. The deserts were amazing and such a difficult choice but I had the apricot desert which looked like a cheesecake but tasted totally different. It was superb. The choice of wine was very good and altogether an exceptional night with Jazz band playing in the background. A definite must for you list of great places.

We dined at Pierre Lori with family, friends and a (large) dog. All made exceptionally welcome by the lovely and very helpful staff. Excellent food with generous portions and good choice. Lovely local atmosphere. A perfect place for visitors to immerse themselves in French dining culture but in an accessible way. Everybody in local shops speaks highly and warmly of this restaurant. We will certainly return.

We visited because we had points to redeem on the Fork! And we liked the food a lot! Their chicken burger was only 16 euros each, with homemade bun, a big piece of chicken fillet and very nice fries! Nice beers also. Good service! Good quality, tasty food at good prices!
