So why would you escape Paris? Well, this is a pleasant little trip out east and one to recommend before or after a mooch around Vincennes forest (Bois de Vincennes) , which is very close by. The restaurant is decently priced rather than cheap, has a good range of wines and both my visits en famille and for my wedding anniversary, were very pleasant out in the garden out the back. Inside the décor is also very tasteful in an old fashioned/rustic fashion. Enjoyed a good meat dish first time out and fish also a good choice second time out. Good service also English spoken. Afterwards or indeed before you can walk down to the port and get a boat upstream to charming Bry or downstream to Joinvil...
Some of the bad reviews of Le Verger are ignoring its attractions. By the Marne, which is very attractive hereabouts, and in summer you eat in the garden, and this place treasures its history. We were taken here by friends who live in St Maur, and our host knew all the songs played by the accordionist, and sang beautifully to them. It was a perfect evening. Very tasty rabbit, followed by strawberries. My wife enjoyed her mango salad and espadon. Nice Sancerre. It's not Michelin haute cuisine, but I cannot imagine having more fun on a Thursday night in France
Je suis allé au Verger avec des amis français lors d'une excursion d'une journée ou d'une soirée au départ de Paris. C'était une belle évasion de la ville et j'ai apprécié l'atmosphère détendue et la nourriture. C'était facile d'accès en RER. On pouvait s'asseoir à l'intérieur, à l'extérieur dans leur jardin ou au bord de la rivière. J'attends avec impatience une prochaine visite.
Le verger is really nice and cosy, its space on the outside makes you feel like at your grandma's garden with its nice colours and trees. The service was quite slow even if the guy was extremely nice. To be honest, it's a little bit pricey and maybe it's not really worth it!
