Une belle soirée chaleureuse sur une terrasse éclairée aux chandelles, que c'est romantique ! J'ai commencé avec une soupe de tomate et basilic qui était délicieuse, suivie par du poulet à la crème et à l'estragon qui était parfaitement équilibré. Je cuisine moi-même ce plat très bien, mais celui-ci était tout simplement supérieur. Nous avons eu une bouteille de vin délicieuse et un verre de champagne pour accompagner le fromage, c'était juste parfait. Une soirée très agréable. Le petit-déjeuner était également délicieux et servi sur la terrasse, avec une sélection de fromages, de charcuterie, de céréales, de croissants, etc. Hautement recommandé.
We visit this restaurant a couple of times a year, saving it for a treat. Open April to October, it serves local produce in a limited menu (dependent on availability) which is changed continually.The dishes are beautifully cooked and presented, served on their lovely terrace when the weather is good, inside in their beautiful old dining room if not. The owners are exceptionally friendly and their young family often aid their mother waiting at table. Madam speaks English, if required.Wines are reasonably priced; expect to pay circa 90-100 euros for two for the meals with aperitifs and a reasonable wine.
Bernard offers a wonderful menu inspired by what is in season from local growers/producers and organic where possible. If booked in advance Bernard will create wonderful and unusual vegetarian dishes. Compliment your dinner with some interesting locally produced Cahors wines. Dinner is served on the terrace in season or in a very elegant dining room on cooler evenings. On some evenings there is lovely live 'piano bar' music. See Le Vert website for details.
