Nicely cooked food simply presented in a pleasant sea side family setting. There are a variety of set lunches at different prices we had the 26 euro menu which was reasonable value but not exceptional. Nothing fancy we had starters of crab (fresh half...crab) and rabbit terrine, then raie served with salicorne and (borrowing from the 21 euro menu) dos de cabillaud served with a lemon and leek sauce. Puddings were coffee ice cream with liqueur and coffee creme brulee, both delicious and again simply presented. A coupe de champagne for 4.50 was excellent value and wine by the glass was pleasant. visited the restaurant océan for Sunday dinner with French friends who live near. the hotel restaurant is located next to the clemenceau house and museum right next to the sea with free parking opposite. it was very busy when we arrived, but we were done. very welcome and service during the meal was friendly and very efficient with employees who could speak both French and English. the food was excellent and there was a good choice of weeping, including local Vendéen wines from Mareuil-sur-Lay. a walk along the adjacent beach promenade is recommended afterwards. combined, a very good selection of restaurant for a typical French Sunday dinner with a great atmosphere, serious eating and weepin...
Après deux ans passés en France, nous avons été très heureux de décider de notre premier voyage à L'Océan. Une excellente cuisine et une grande hospitalité, un très bel héritage familial. Richard aimera toujours l'entrée au crabe et j'adorerai les crevettes. Un service impeccable et délicieux... Des menus pour tous les budgets. De plus, de belles chambres, à quelques pas de la mer et un bel endroit pour se reposer et profiter d'air frais. Nous reviendrons dès que possible, c'est certain.
We liked the food and service so much we went for dinner twice ! Good value for money Good, cooked by the owner. A family run hotel restaurant, the younger members of the family speak excellent English if that is a concern. This place is...worth a visit for good honest cooking and great tasting fresh ingredients.

Visited the place with 2 children. The kids got their dinner during our starters, perfect! The seafood is excellent. The ambiance not of this time anymore. The service was super friendly and very good. I surely recommend this place
J'ai savouré un bon menu au déjeuner, qui était délicieux. Le service était amical, la salle à manger spacieuse et élégante. L'hôtel/restaurant est situé directement en bord de mer avec une vue magnifique sur la côte vendéenne.

Ate here twice while staying locally in the area. Both visits the food and service were excellent. The staff were very friendly. The set menus very good value for money. Well worth a visit or two.
