Went here with a friend on a very icy January week night. The welcome was warm and friendly and the decor cosy, 'woody' and slightly quirky, with teddy bears everywhere. It's not my taste but I think there are a lot of people around who feel somehow comfortable surrounded by furriness. Food was good and well presented, although my suggestion for the fish terrine would be to serve it at room temperature, not straight from the fridge - it would do the flavours more justice. Friend ordered a steak and I had a magret de canard with a honey sauce - slightly too sweet for me (better with a bit of something citrus-y with it maybe) so I dipped into my friend's pepper sauce, which was good. Would have preferred the mixed sautéed vegetables cut into larger pieces to be less oily. What really made the evening special was having live music in the form of a jazz pianist who didn't just sit in the corner playing but chatted to the diners and engaged the kids. Definitely, a good addition for creating a warm and more sophisticated (non-teddybear) ambiance. As for the wine - it would be good to offer small pitchers or carafes of a more reasonably priced house wine. One of us wanted red and the other white so we had to keep ordering by the glass.
