Restaurant Mezzanine

Went here with a friend on a very icy January week night. The welcome was warm and friendly and the decor cosy, 'woody' and slightly quirky, with teddy bears everywhere. It's not my taste but I think there are a lot of people around who feel somehow comfortable surrounded by furriness. Food was good and well presented, although my suggestion for the fish terrine would be to serve it at room temperature, not straight from the fridge - it would do the flavours more justice. Friend ordered a steak and I had a magret de canard with a honey sauce - slightly too sweet for me (better with a bit of something citrus-y with it maybe) so I dipped into my friend's pepper sauce, which was good. Would have preferred the mixed sautéed vegetables cut into larger pieces to be less oily.What really made the evening special was having live music in the form of a jazz pianist who didn't just sit in the corner playing but chatted to the diners and engaged the kids. Definitely, a good addition for creating a warm and more sophisticated (non-teddybear) ambiance. As for the wine - it would be good to offer small pitchers or carafes of a more reasonably priced house wine. One of us wanted red and the other white so we had to keep ordering by the glass.

The poor rating is not reflective of the food, but of the manager and his attitude when we showed up for our reservation one night and was told they didn't have any record of our reservation and there was nothing he could do. Our reservation was confirmed via email and when we showed this to the manager he said it was simply not possible and didn't offer to help in any way. We were a large group and were very disappointed with the way they handled this mishap on their part. One star for rudeness and unprofessional conduct. We managed to find another place in town and were glad that we didn't wait for the restaurant to call us back as they never bothered to do this even though the manager said he would call us when they had a table later in the evening. Give your business to another more deserving establishment!

My colleague made a dinner reservation for 9 which was confirmed by email. When we arrived it appeared the email reservation had not been properly recorded. We weren't offered a single word of apology despite showing the reservation. We were simply told the restaurant was full so please "go away, we are full"! The staff reluctantly accepted a phone number in case there was a cancellation (done in desperation as we a hungry group of 9!). However, it was taken with the message "don't call us, we'll call you". Truly awful customer service.

Unbelievably bad and expensive we visited about 8 years ago and never went back thought we would try it again set menu 95 euros long story but one half of the party thought the other half had booked another restaurant ! So alarm bells rang straight away on New Year's Eve do you have a table for 8 ? Yes no problem ......... this place should have a health warning it's that bad . Opted out of the set menu to have a fondue with flour lumps .... you have been warned

Looked empty from outside which made us question whether it was good to eat or not. However when we went upstairs it was quite busy. Lovely looking restaurant, very good service, good selection on the menu and most importantly the food was very tasty.Definitely go back.
