This used to be the old Cali Viejo restaurant; set in an old Hacienda house from the 1800s, but located in the western part of the city, it is a super convenient place to take out of towners to live an "old Cali" experience in this gem of an estate. Make sure you walk around the old house and take in the thick walls, tiled roofs, and perfectly restored rooms. Under new management, they have kicked the experience up a notch, putting in separate areas: a great bar area, suitable for drinks and tapas, a large, well-lit and charming restaurant area, and several rooms suited for private events. In a city without many esthetic charms, Hacienda del Bosque stands out as a must-visit place. The service is attentive, although one misses the old days with the serving staff dressed as the help used to dress back in the 1800s. The execution of the menu is where it falls short. In our table of eight, two of us picked the Lomo Saltado (actually a Peruvian specialty). The meet was tough and the sauce was salty. Several picked fish dishes - dry, uninspired. The winner was a roast pork - that was delicious. The appetizers, typical "Vallecaucano" fare: puerquitas, plantains, etc., were great. My advice to the chef: Stick with local specialties, done right. Don't try to stretch with fancier international dishes - that's not why people come to your restaurant. Do typical Colombian dishes, with a gourmet flare. The wine list was limited to a few Chilean wines (Colombians love Chilean wines, for some reason), but we picked an OK cab at a decent price (around $40). Bottom line - if you are in Cali, come here for the place. You won't find a nicer setting.

Honestly the location and venue are beautiful The hacienda had been remodeled and they did a fantastic job. Service was excelente and friendly The food is not excellent but I would still recommend going just do not have high expectations in reference to the food. I would not say it bad its just to bad they have paid attention to the reviews .I had read the reviews prior to going so I was prepared and I enjoyed my lunch and surrounding. I went on a Sunday . The menu is different during the week. They also have music on Friday and Saturday evenings Worth going !!

Tried to visit just today and called ahead and the person on the phone told me kitchen was opened until 3 pm. Drove for 30 mins to get there and when I arrived at 235 pm, I was told it was closed. Very disappointed with the misinformation as it was my last day in Cali and it took me a while to get there and then to head back to the city. Be aware it is far and the road getting there gets crowded because it is the same that goes to the zoo. Will try again next year and will update my review.
