With all respect I have to say that Barrancabermeja is not a city distinguished by its gourmet food. for years menus available are being made of fast food (lets read hamburger -some monster size-,hot dog, pizza, etc). La cazuela is one of those few restaurants with a long tradition that started in a small room and got bigger and accepted because the friendly service and the nice food. The specialties are soups called cazuela, from there its name, they can be made out of cat fish, sea food and combinations, among other dishes like whole fried fish and meats. Plantains served as appetizers are fantastic as well as the sauced to dip them in. All in all, I go there every time I can. As Barrancabermeja is a hot city, 33 Celsius all year round and high humidity, eating a cazuela by noon may be a little bit heavy. Heat and humidity and a heavy soup may you get some lazy and sleepy, anyway will worth the experience.

I came back to Barrancabermeja after twenty years. The small town on the side of the river Magdalena is more organized, although the area is still pressed by the fall of the oil price. Nevertheless, La Cazuela restaurant remains the best restaurant in the city. I only give it five stars because I love memories of the taste of this fish soup from my childhood. It deserves four stars by great service, delicious patacons and delicious soup. I didn't like the Mayo being added to the soup. It would be very rare if a tourist came to this city. Price ranges from $33,000 pesos to $50.000 pesos per cazuela. For a party of eight were $430,000 pesos, about $160 dollars.

This is a relatively expensive restaurant for the average in Barranca catering mainly to the oil and gas community. Recently stopped by for lunch which turned out to be excellent. The menu is a little limited but you really only go here for one thing and that's their range of fish casseroles.I had the mixed seafood casserole which was presented with a side helping of rice and a delicious fried plantain. The salsa was great too. Would definitely go back and try this place again.Service was a little slow but when we went the place was busy.

An elegant restaurant for a deliciously heavy lunch, where many of your fellow diners are wearing steel-toed boots. Awesome! The small portion was already almost too much for me. When it comes to seafood stews, this is the place. Yum!
