the happy countryman is one of our favorite locals. in the midst of the forest at the rettershof, in summer lots of space on the large terrace and in the beer garden, we are always fed by cheerful and well-established service staff. great place of departure for young and old, families, cyclists, hikers and very nice second home of the segway drivers: and therefore we also know the varied map with hessian tapas and classics, salates, carvings, wild dishes and above all with seasonal specialties such as sparing, pfifferlings, greenkohl or g. absolutely recommended cuisines with fair and fair prices. we always like to come. we wanted to try the Retters castle restaurant but they were booked out work congresses weddings for the coming 2 months. we then found this little gem nearby. Wonderful indoor outdoor restaurant nestled in the woods. it’s traditional German cuisine at a very good standard, far higher than you would expect from a Landgasthof. the service was impeccable and friendly WiFi orders to kitchen for fast execution. can highly recommend, we loved the Hirschgulasch (deer stew) with candied apple, Preiselbeeren Spätzle.

Rarely, we enjoyed so delicious local cuisine here in the area! The Kohlroulade was a pale man's mouse, the vegetarian quiche also delicious and from the Rahmwirsing we ordered an additional portion directly. In addition, the service is very friendly and the atmosphere is right for disconnecting and feeling well. We were certainly not here the last time!
