Rice Bistro Sushi At Aspen Grove used to be Gigis', which was known for its amazing cupcakes. When the name changed, they claimed to keep the same recipes, but after several visits, I’ve decided not to waste my money here anymore. The cupcakes are consistently dry. As others have mentioned, the service leaves much to be desired. Every time I’ve visited, the staff seemed to be in a bad mood. Poor cupcakes paired with poor service is not a winning combination. During my visit at 6:30 pm, an hour and a half before closing, they had only one cupcake left—typical of the low energy atmosphere. The highlight of this restaurant is definitely the pie batter, which is incredibly soft and doesn’t have the usual egg or flour odors, making it an ideal base for cupcakes. I strongly recommend trying the Vanilla and Wedding Pistachio flavors; however, the pistachio chocolate could benefit from a bolder pistachio taste. The confetti cupcake is delightful, but if she switched to real sprinkles instead of confetti, it could become her next big hit. The butterscotch flavor is delicious, although the frosting and butterscotch chips might be a little overly sweet.
Whenever I travel to a new state or major city, I always try to eat at local restaurants that aren't part of a chain. With my experience in the food service industry and my family's ownership of several restaurants, I like to think I have a pretty good sense of food quality. Unfortunately, the cupcake I tried was the worst I’ve ever had. It tasted like stale Play-Doh, almost as if it had been hydrogenated and then covered in a thick layer of simple syrup. I usually refrain from writing negative reviews unless they're truly deserved, and this one certainly is.
I tried a German chocolate cupcake with a filling, and it was delicious. It was midday on a Saturday, so the selection was a bit limited but still had plenty of options. If I could, I’d try everything! Each cupcake, brownie, or cookie costs around $5. They could benefit from having a bell at the counter to alert staff when someone is waiting, as the employees were busy in the back. Aside from that, the staff was very friendly.

The strawberry cake, baked with fresh strawberries and filled with strawberry compote and strawberry buttercream, is absolutely wonderful—my child will love me forever for it. The oatmeal scotchie cookie sandwich is delicious and perfectly balanced, not too sweet at all.
Yum yum yum!I love these cupcakes, especially the butterscotch ones. The only complaint I have is that I wish the cream cheese frosting for the red velvet had more of a cream cheese flavor but still delicious!!

I got vanilla, bean cupcakes, chocolate with vanilla and strawberry. Everything was delicious and I would definitely be a repeat customer.
We enjoyed the cupcakes the last two weekends. They were so rich and moist. Super delicious!
