Risotto House - Réserver une table

Will go again Now, I am no risotto expert, but I don't know how many risotto specific restaurants there are. However, Risotto House in Rutherford is a must for those who enjoy a risotto dish. I have to say the beginning of my experience was cautious because I wasn't greeted very well. When I arrived waiting to be seated, no one came up to me. Then, when I asked for a table, the waiter looks at the clock based on the ~1 hr. time until they closed. It wasn't very inviting regardless of the short time to close. But, this was somewhat corrected with average waiter service after I sat down. I ordered the risotto con rigola, radicchio gambieri and my I must say that I was surprised on how good this dish was. The inclusion of the radicchio complemented this dish tremendously. It adds a delicious crunchy and earthy taste to every bite. As usual, the risotto was very creamy and the shrimp added a good buttery seafood taste to the dish. I'm quite interested on how good their other risotto dishes must be. The interior is what you would typically find in an Italian restaurant. It has a good, fancy setup good for a casual or date night. The parking is abundant with metered sidewalk parking along Park Ave.

We've been at the Risotto house for many years. It was always excellent, but the last few times we went, I ordered my favorites, the Risotto Formaggio, and it was not very good. Bland and tasteless would be an exact description. I'll never order it here again. We've been here recently with another couple and I doubt if we ever get back. The hostess was very rude and impatient. She had an acid lemon personality. The girl who cleaned the tables tried to clean our plates and we were not finished. She always asked if we were done and was clearly disturbed that we did not let them take our dishes. A glass of water and that was it, never filled again. The place wasn't even so busy. We had coffee and talked a little and we felt that the hostess and waitress looked at us as if they needed the table (it was not someone waiting). Instead of a relaxing dinner with friends, we made ourselves very worse. The Risotto House used to be one of our places, what happened?

Let me start with the positive, the food was pretty good. My husband and I shared the rice ball appetizer which was great. I had risotto with shrimp, tomato and spinach. It was decent. The sauce on my husband 's chicken parmigiana was also good. That is where the positive ends. The service was absolutely the worst! The hostess that sat us, who I think was the owner, was rude and abrupt. We had to ask for water several times before someone actually brought it. Not once did a server ask if the food was ok or if we needed anything. When we asked for the check we weren 't even acknowledged but we heard the hostess tell a server they need the check . We will never go back.

Haven't been to the Risotto in years, that was our biggest mistake. Revisited Saturday night and to our delight it was fantastic. Rice balls as an app were the best we've ever tried, stuffed pork chop, or should I say pork chops on the bone in a marsala sauce were out if this world, the Rigatoni Bolognese with peas and mushrooms in a creamy red sauce was an exceptional experience. Unfortunately after the bread, the apps and dinner, not to mention a bottle of wine, we just couldn't do dessert. Next time. Go...but make reservations.

The food was good. But unpredictable is a waitress in an Italian restaurant that has not only abused Bruschetta but corrected me because she is so confident in her misunderstanding.
