I finally found a restaurant in Gateshead that can compete with the big players in Newcastle! The venue initially seemed like a lost cause, especially being located next to Baja. After a few failed attempts with different restaurants, River Beat came along and surprised me with its excellent food, wine selection, and cool atmosphere. The service was top-notch as well. The menu offers a variety of options, including tapas style with small plates or more traditional dishes. We opted for tapas and were not disappointed - highlights included the salmon with 7 spices, tempura prawns, and tandoori lamb toast. We visited River Beat last night and had a very disappointing meal. Firstly when we came to order our tapas they didn't have 2 of the meat dishes we wanted we should have been made aware of this when given the menu. Once ordered our food came extremely quickly too quickly, we were done with our meal within 40 minutes of being seated. The food quality did not reflect the price it lacked the wow factor and good flavours. There are much better restaurants on the quayside where you can get quality, flavourful food for the same price or less. On the other hand, the service was lovely and the restaurant had a lovely atmosphere.
From the moment the three of us(family)arrived at Riverbeat Restaurant we were warmly welcomed. The interior of the restaurant is art inspired,spotless, warm and very comfortable seating. The Tapas/Menu and dishes were explained with such knowledge and WOW the food was out of this world. We can honestly say this is the best Asian inspired Tapas/food we have ever eaten. The spice and flavour combinations seemed so unique and cleverly thought out. Well done to the Head of House, Chef’s. Highly recommend! Was the perfect finishing touch following a lovely autumnal day at Beamish. Thanking all staff.
I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and, even though we didn't make a reservation, we managed to get a table and were extremely impressed. From the warm greeting at the door to the staff's thorough understanding of the menu and recommendations for their favorite dishes, the food was delightful. Every dish we tried was excellent. Despite being big eaters, we found that 3 tapas and a curry between the two of us was more than enough. We enjoyed the lively atmosphere and the friendly service so much that we stayed for several drinks after our meal. We will definitely be returning! Réservez une table maintenant
Asian Fusion Style Tapas Square with a clearly marked range of vegan options. 3 well dimensioned tapas dishes for £20, which are not quite enough for two people, so we also have a bowl of their thick sliced chips in curry sauce. The interior is clean and modern with magnificent views over the river towards Newcastle. Asahi Japanese warehouse also on design
Absolutely fabulous pub/ snacks/restaurant.. couldn’t of been more welcoming by the staff .. passed many a time but just didn’t go in. Now it’s the 1st place to go or finish in.. again a fantastic menu and great beers.. we’ll be back. And I would definitely recommend it
