My wife and I live in the Northern Piedmont of Viginia, well away from the hustle and bustle of NoVA. We were looking for a spot near Mt. Vernon as we were attending the Spring Wine Festival. River Bend Bisto appeared on my wife 's list of possibles , and the reviews and photos looked promising. We thoroughly enjoyed our drinks, appetizer and main course. We had higher hopes for this restaurant but we were disappointed not only with the food, but the service as well. The trout with prosciutto was overcooked and dry and the pea soup was thin and flavorless. The rest of our entrees were slightly better, but only borderline acceptable. Our server twice had to be flagged down for drinks long enough to put down his own martini. We asked to see the chef to tell her about the food, largely because our server had actually left the building for a bit, but she never did come to our table.
