..,for Ambiance, Adorable and Ate there many times :) (we live next door!)I'm talking about the outside deck. It's large, mostly quiet and has one if the most beautiful views of Zurisee (Zurich Lake). The ferry makes scheduled stops, sailboats and fishermen paint the scene as the sun sets to the S.east. Oh! The food. It's self serve. You stand in line, grab your tray and utensils while reading the overhead menu. From Asian food to rotisserie whole chicken as well as deep fried fish, as well as French/Swiss specialties like FlammKuchin, you are in for the start of sumptin' unique. It's always great when you revisit a place after a long time. The Restaurant Sonne is not only a lovely place but the are very successful in maintaining a great variety of food in outstanding quality. However, this time the service was what impressed me most. Hopefully it's correct - Nadine - from Germany was our waiter and this was just simply great. She had a natural customer focus, friendliness and happiness that really spread across the restaurant.so go there and get the food and customer focus experience - if you don't, I definitely will.
Restaurant Sonne has location directly on the lake. The garden self service restaurant is well organized, has a playground for children and the summer/holiday feeling. The food we had (flammkuchen and frisky planted chicken) was sadly too oily. The flammkuchen with tomato and mozzarella lacked tomatoes even according the taste of my 9 year old. The crispy planted chicken was fried and oily and my stomach wasn’t very happy about it afterwards. The best was the corn on the cob. Service friendliness could be improved.
I ate here several times for dinner, both alone and in a group. The food is quite good, of a fine dining caliber. Menu has options for vegetarians too. In the spring they had a special asparagus menu. It is nice to sit outside when the weather is nice as there's a great view of Lake Zurich and the restaurant has a pretty trellis with lights. Lovely lakeside terrace. Very good service; the patron and his wife are very much in evidence. The food is first-rate: we enjoyed paillard of veal, Zürich strips of veal in creamy sauce with rösti, pike fish fillets, and our vegan friend was happy with her vegan burger. Fine local wines. Prices are high but this is the Gold Coast of Lake Zurich and the view makes it all worth it.
