I have been here a few times before and have never been disappointed. The food is always very good and service has been very good in the past. My husband and I decided to bring another couple here last night (their first time). As usual, the food was very good. We started with the coconut shrimp and roasted beet salad. Then two of us had the magic mushroom burger(with caramelized onions and fried mushrooms on top), both with buns. My friend and I wanted to try their new "bunless" burgers (no bun, made into a bowl). For all the advertising they do, I expected more. The service we had was very indifferent and largely absent. The beer choice was dismal and the happy hour appys were smaller than advertised. Was going to have a burger and then found it didn't come with fries for the price and s we decide to go to the appys. Ordered the sliders, calamari and garlic fries. Turns out the slider burgers do come with fries. But the sharable calamari advertised as for 1-2 was smaller than most if not all calamari plates I have had and the 2-3 person fries were the same as came with the sliders and were barely for 2 if that. We went last Sunday and I must say that the restaurant has a very nice location by the river. I wanted to like this restaurant way more than I did. 1st, the parking is very limited. 2nd, the burger prices are very high...almost $20 for a bacon cheese burger with fries. The fries are an add-on of $3.45. The weird part is that I had fish tacos (nothing to write home about) and fries did come with the tacos but not with the burger. 3rd, when I asked for a side of mayonnaise the server told me that I could have plain mayo or flavoured mayo (I think it was chipotle) but that either way there would be a charge of $1.25. I don't know how I could express the bad service adequately enough. We had reservations for a large party the reception area was less than welcoming when we arrived. We were there for over 3 hours and while we were in no hurry neither was our server in taking our beer or food order. When we asked for bill it took another 15 minutes even though we said we were in s hurry. Someone else asked to sit at bar but they said no because of brochures etc on the counter. Burger was reasonably good but pricey and my wife said her tacos were the worst she has ever had!! Not going back anytime soon!

I was here at 4 pm on a weekday and even at this time inside seating was limited and the available tables had direct sun and strong winds, both not really desirable if you want to do something on your laptop.Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I don't see the point of having my french fries served in a mini metal deep-fry basket. If you're old-school and know how to use fork and knife, it makes eating more complicated. The food wasn't bad, but not really noteworthy either, so I suspect the high ratings are due to exuberant hip-place ratings by the mixed-age crowd.Not for me
Romers is definitely a notch up from pub food. They offer a great selection of burgers from beef, to portobello, turkey, veggie and each is accompanied by interesting toppings. Love those crispy onion strings on the Man's man burger. Sea salt fries are crispy & satisfying..I give them 10/10.The Prawn tacos, with homemade tortilla shells were amazing as well. Did not have a chance to try their mini- donuts with bourbon/Nutella drizzle/filling? They were all around us. Beer drinkers seemed satisfied with the variety of craft beers offered.
My husband and I went to Romer's after a walk on the river way path. We were there just to have some drinks and appetizers during their Happy Hour. We were seated at a table on the patio right away, but waited for a server to come for a while. A server came to take the orders from the table behind us, who came way after we arrived... So, we decided to leave. This was not our first time to visit this Romer's, and their food is usually okay and the service is fine, but not this time.
Wandered in after a long morning walk, to discover that they offer brunch on both Saturday and Sunday! My wife and I both had the California Eggs Benedict - it was excellent! Will definitely visit here again.
