Romischer Kaiser

We ate in the brewery courtyard on a warm summer's evening as did many local folk. Oddly several tables had all male diners and others all female, apparently they were mostly related and were all having a good time. The food was very good; my fish translated as 'wolf-fish' and was delicious. Most diners were supping the 1744 brew, made on the premises, but there was also a good selection of local wines and the Müller-Thurgau went down well. The service was friendly and helpful and the location, being just slightly away from the main square was calmer. There, numerous people, locals and tourists alike, competed to get a table at the many popular restaurants in this delightful town.

Glaabsbräu is in old part of town, the brewery next to the station is called Kleines Brauhaus.This review is for Glaabsbräu and it is NOT good - slow service, took me 30 mins to get served and another 25 mins for food to arrive despite it being after 1330 when I arrived and not particularly busy. Food was ok but how long does it take to cook 2 sausages and serve it with cold potatosalad????? To finish a bad lunch off, the waitress did not even offer me change from 10€ (bill was for €9.30) and I was not going to leave a tip due to non-existent service! Others around me did not seem to be getting served any quicker either, so it wasn't just my poor German......

Mmm. Wonderful schnitznel with green pepper sauce. I had mine with bratkartofflen while my wife and friend went with kroketten. Both potato dishes were good but not great. Great homemade bier was the reason we returned here and it did not disappoint. This is my go-to place for bier and food in Seligenstadt.

Came here on aWednesday for supper. There were a few peeps out on the beer garden but I sat inside. The roasted chicken was great and I liked their Original 1744 Bier too. Fair price and service was good enough, not fast by any stretch, but that's not the goal.

Excellent food, excellent wheat beer, whether anything else other than this? PS. otherwise in addition to the restaurant is small brewers. Have a nice day. :))
