What fun...interesting dishes with a twist or two.We both had fish...the special of the day, Trevalla, and the regular menu item, Salmon. The manner is which both were served was appealing. Sadly, both were over done...the flesh had dried out. Still tasty, but more care needs to be taken to be delicate with the fish. By the way, the special of the day was a plentiful serving - whereas the salmon left one of our diners rather hungry after finishing the one small filet.The veggie spring rolls were served in a martini glass with a delicious slaw/sour cream. When it comes to finding a spot to eat, Kingston/Blackmans Bay is pretty well served. What has been lacking is Asian beyond take-away standard, and now Room 23 has arrived to fill the gap. It's not quite fine dining but it brings Asian inspired dishes expertly executed and presented well. Chicken satay skewers and prawn bites - excellent entrees (the prawns were particularly tasty and melting tender) and both gluten free. A very generous serving of fried rice was well received, as was the marinated lamb shank. The latter was falling-off-the-bone tender and subtly layered with Asian flavours. With my husband, we went to Room 23 and tried an entree and 2 main dishes. The front of the house was attentive and quick and we were happy and satisfied up to the last morsel of the food. So we went back with 2 other couples on Valentine's Night and they continue to do wonders in the kitchen. A little hiccup on which entree goes to which one but other than that, it was a great place to dine and catch up with friends. It is also BYO. I will certainly recommend it to my other friends and will go back there again.

This restaurant is located just a block away from the beach and is only open on weekends for breakfast and lunch, and for dinner during the week. When we visited on a midday Saturday, it wasn't too crowded so we were seated promptly. We found the salt and pepper calamari to be decent, and we enjoyed the roast duck that we shared. The calamari was not properly prepared and the prawns still had their shells/tails on, indicating lazy kitchen prep work. The meals were of low quality and expensive for takeout. I do not plan on returning.

This restaurant is a real asset to Kingston Beach, clean, freshly cooked food, nicely presented, worth a visit. The take outs as good as anywhere we've been, this restaurant should do very well

I have now been to Room 23 a few times they food is consistently good ( very yummy ) very friendly staff and in a gorgeous location at Kingston Beach and prices are great.
