I hesitated to write this review because I've heard good things about this restaurant, but I don't know if they were having a bad night or wanted to discourage certain people from eating there. To make a long story short, I had the crab cakes and kale salad. They were very overcooked and ridiculously small which meant I could only enjoy a tiny center of the crab cake. I added the shrimp on the side as the crab needed the extra flavor. Unfortunately the 4 small shrimp swimming in oily sauce was not enough. Food has been really good in the past, and maybe it was a fluke this time, but every dish that we had was overcooked. The chicken and rice was dry and bland and the two steaks (medium rare) were well done and crispy. Like i said, it could have been a fluke, but for the expectations previously set by this restaurant this visit was a disappointment.
The quality of the food has declined since the original owners and chefs departed. While the atmosphere remains delightful and our waitress provided excellent service, the food itself was disappointing. The pork schnitzel was devoid of flavor, the grits tasted sour, the gravy was overly salty, and the apple onion jam lacked excitement.
I highly recommend Roots! The unique dishes offer a refreshing change for a town like Jonesboro, and if you're not in the mood to try something new, they have an extensive burger menu. The drinks are not only flavorful but also beautifully crafted, served in charming glassware.

We dined in a tapas style and were very impressed with every single dish. The flavors were outstanding. The presentation was beautiful. The ingredients were super fresh. I would highly recommend this restaurant! The service and atmosphere were excellent as well.
Despite the bitter cold and snow leading up to the Christmas holidays, the service staff were very engaging and attentive. The food was both delicious and authentic, and we truly enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant.
