I have not visited the Rose and Crown carvery for several years. It appears that they have agreed not to start without me as it has not changed a bit, just got a little more tired and dark looking. We were a party of 7 on a Sunday lunch time and had booked in advance. Our table was ready so despite the surroundings it seemed OK so far. After ordering drinks we were told we could go down and get our food. No one there. After a while a man appeared from out back. Oh he says. I will just go and get the fresh meat . Good we thought as the beef and pork was looking wooden and small. No such luck. He returned empty handed and asked for our order. I went for turkey then as it was all that appeared...
I went in here for lunch and a drink on a Tuesday as the website said they were doing food that day. When I walked up to the bar, no one was there.. then an old lady ran from the restaurant in a hurry. Rushed me along for an order so I asked for a pint of Stella. She asked for the money and I gave her my card. She said they don’t accept card payments under £10. There was no sign about this, I offered to go get money out of a cash machine opposite the pub whilst I left my belongings at the bar. Instantly she said she would call the police if I didn’t agree to either paying by cash (which I didn’t have) or having £10 worth of drinks. We recently hired the restaurant area in the Rose and Crown Hotel for a wake and I just want to express such a huge thank you for the staff who were so helpful and took the stress out of such a sad time for our family. The food they provided was lovely and just the perfect amount. They were so accomodating and it was a great celebration of our aunt's life. Would highly recommend for party's or get togethers. We will be back for sure.
At first glance, this restaurant appears to offer good value, but after considering the small portion of meat provided, it becomes less appealing. The vegetables are overcooked and lack flavor. There are no vegetarian options available. The staff seems grumpy, possibly due to the negative language coming from the kitchen that can be heard throughout the restaurant.

Last in , 1 hour before end of service, little meat left, dry . no pork left, last yorkshire pudding left, sloppy veg, wish i had cancelled as we nearly did! Just sat down to eat and they started to clear all the food away , banging and crashing, not a nice peaceful dinner, more eat up and get out !! No more! Never again!!!
Keith, the owner, provided a wonderful carvery for 50 friends and family members. The meat was tender, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, and there was plenty of food. The desserts were large and delicious. The friendly staff provided excellent service, making it a flawless afternoon. Thank you to everyone involved!
Today we enjoyed a delicious, classic carvery that was great value for money. The meat was flavorful, generous portions and juicy. There was a nice variety of vegetables and accompaniments. The starters were substantial. The staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning soon.
I have been here several times before but today's barman get a zero. After spending over 3 hours in the pub he switches to adverts rather than the last 60 seconds of the GP qualifying. So disappointed after the manager has always been so good in the past.

Lovely Sunday lunch. Large portions. All fresh and hot. Staff friendly. We had a large table as it was a birthday celebration.
