Knowing of our interest in art, friends we were staying with in Arcachon arranged a “vineyard and sculpture” tour of Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte – rounding off with a delightful lunch in the associated bistro-style restaurant. As indicated by its name, it is located in...the former laundry which has been creatively designed to achieve an informal and welcoming environment. Between the four of us, some enjoyed the daily menu while some of us were tempted by dishes on the relatively short but outstanding full carte. Just the worst service and most tasteless food ever!! We spent six nights here and with only six mains dinner was dull when three were off choice ! The festival dinner used these courses too! How flippin dull! No sops A g and t mins! Wine by the glass varied from a glass to three mouthfuls Food is dull and tasteless The wine bar was never open and room service was variable Let’s get home to Belgium No management seemed bothered Really really disappointed

Nous sommes amoureux de ce lieu charmant et du restaurant. La nourriture nous a vraiment impressionnés. Nous avons pris une terrine de foie gras de canard, du sanglier, une épaule de porc avec polenta, une soupe à l'oignon et de la « Forêt Noire » pour le dessert. La nourriture était délicieuse ! Le service était bien ! Super endroit... à retenir et à revenir un jour !

we enjoyed our first visit so much we brought some friends this time, we were a mixed table of one French, Polish, German and British. I have rarely had such a welcoming reception with the owner speaking all languages to us!...Food was great, service fautless and again we were able to take out time, a great experience and we will be back again! We visited La Table du Lavoir after completing a wine tasting at the vineyard. It was an incredible meal and a cozy, French countryside atmosphere! Most of our family got the pre-set “meal of the day” and everyone was impressed. Prudence was our waitress, and...she was wonderful, kind, and funny! A great meal in a lovely setting!

Personnel agréable et cadre attrayant... mais ne commandez pas le steak !!! Je n'ai jamais mangé un steak aussi dur que celui-ci. Après quelques essais, j'ai eu besoin d'un tournevis pour retirer les morceaux coincés dans mes dents. La serveuse a reconnu ma plainte....et m'a invité à un thé/café gratuit. Whoop !!!

Pleasant staff and attractive setting... but don't order the steak!!! I've never had a steak as tough as this. After giving it a couple of tries, I needed a screwdriver to remove the bits stuck in my teeth. The waitress acknowledge my complaint....and Invited me...to a free tea/coffee. Whoopee!!!

Location location location,,,, and wonderful food and service. The sun beating down definitely adds to the experience. But sitting looking out over blissful vineyards eating sublime food and sipping wine at lunchtime... that’s my idea of heaven Réservez une table maintenant

Had dinner the last night of our day stay. Really enjoyed the Suckling Pork Shoulder. Sommelier suggested a Rhône blend which paired perfectly. Service and food excellent, and priced very fairly.

The setting is lovely with a beautiful view of the chateau and the sunset, the staff was friendly and attentive and the food was brasserie style and nice. We had a lovely evening.
