The food is amazing! The service, superb. Our waiter, Fabrizio, was incredibly attentive and welcoming. He also knows his wine! Our only comment is that the atmosphere seemed cold and a bit clinical and the music play list was odd. When I think of French cuisine, I think of warm, cozy spaces with crackling fires, flickering candles and soft music. This restaurant lacks that ambience and it was noticeable on a cold, windy night. The food made up for it though! It was absolutely delicious.
Found the tartar to be vinegary and when I commented on the bun for the hamburger which I thought was stale we were told by the chef that it a dense style of bun, the bun crumbled when I tried to pickup the burger to eat it, it was really to bad as I was planning on having a Christmas dinner there this month. Not no more! Glad we went there to try the food prior to setting a reservation. On a positive our server was very good and friendly, a shame about the food
We thoroughly enjoyed the chef’s tasting menu. The staff were attentive without hovering, formal but not stuffy. They were helpful with wine pairings and menu descriptions. While the tasting menu is not inexpensive, I would put it on par with restaurants of a similar caliber. All in all a lovely evening we will definitely be back.
Our lunch at Rouge was one of the most delicious meals that I have had in a long time. Starting with the incredible home made bread and butter, on to the amazing steak tartar and finishing with duck confit that melted in my mouth. Unfortunately we had no room for dessert! A family birthday event. The food and service were excellent including accommodating a couple of people with food allergies. The staff at the Rouge are very professional and take such good care of guests. Everyone enjoyed their food which was well prepared and presented.
Rouge is one of our favourite restaurants for a reason. The food and service consistently provides the diner what every restaurant should strive for: excellence in both. Of course, the ambiance is fabulous as well.
We enjoyed this restaurant immensely!! The food was absolutely delicious!! The staff were attentive and friendly. It will be a must place when we come back to Calgary!!
