The patio furniture looked like it came from someone's home, and the silverware was mismatched. There were swarms of mosquitoes, and the only source of light came from a parking lot lamp shining down on us. Our waitress took our order but didn't return until it was time for the bill. We ordered lemon pepper wings, but they had no lemon—just salt and pepper. It took 40 minutes for our food to arrive, and when it did, the mac and cheese was dry, the sweet potatoes were undercooked and drenched in sugary water, and the salmon was not properly cooked. We arrived in Hilton Head at around 10:30 PM, just half an hour before the restaurant was set to close. We were uncertain if we would be able to secure a table since we were quite hungry and hoped we wouldn’t be too late. Fortunately, the owner was incredibly accommodating and allowed us to eat even after closing hours. A huge thank you to him and his wonderful staff! The food was excellent, and we will certainly be recommending this restaurant to others and returning ourselves in the near future. This is truly how a restaurant should be run!
Ruby Lee's is simply fantastic! I meant to write a review earlier, but on Valentine's Day, my fiancé and I visited Hilton Head Island, and this was my top choice for dining. It did not disappoint! The waitstaff were incredibly friendly, and even without a reservation, they were able to seat us. The food was absolutely delicious—I highly recommend the crab balls as an appetizer; they were incredible! The atmosphere is wonderful; it feels cozy and inviting. We will definitely be returning to this place!
We ordered the wings to share and requested the sauce on the side, but they arrived completely soaked in sauce. On the bright side, the wings were enormous! The jambalaya was outstanding. The service started off great, but then it declined a bit. The music was fantastic, but do keep in mind that there is a cover charge, which is definitely worth it. Make sure to make a reservation! The manager was extremely accommodating, and the food was even better. We only stopped in for takeout, but we enjoyed listening to the band while we waited—they were a blast! The atmosphere was truly exceptional. If you're in search of authentic soul food, you definitely shouldn't miss this place. I just wish we could have tipped more!
