I visited this restaurant to celebrate a friend's birthday and we were seated upstairs. Although the restaurant is small, it has a cozy atmosphere. I ordered the report back cocktail, which was similar to a less-sweet margarita that I enjoyed. For appetizers, we shared the cheese puffs and special flatbread, which were both delicious. For my main course, I had the ricotta gnudi, which was modified without bacon. Unfortunately, the gnudi lacked flavor and seasoning, and the dish could have used a sauce or broth as it was a bit dry. Russell's has got to be one of the best restaurants in St. Louis. The team in the kitchen knocks it out of the park with breakfast, dinner dessert. And to top off a delicious dining experience, the wait and seating staff are beyond kind. I've loved my past few visits here and am looking forward to coming back again. This visit, I had breakfast. Great brunch Russell's ! The cinnamon roll is a must try. And it's huge!!!! The portion sizes are very generous, probably could have shared the BLATE. Everything was fresh and the menu had lots of variety. Definitely excited to go back and try some other dishes. Cute, clean restaurant. Indoor, outdoor, and covered patio seating. Friendly staff and the bakery items are all so tasty. I especially love the cupcakes and brownies. Delicious!!!! First, we started off with this delicious huge cheese board then moved to entrees. I had the broccolini charred salad it was great! Lastly, ending it off with their famous OG Gooey Butter Cake, chefs kiss! Amazing! Our waitress was super sweet, attentive on it! The fire they had going was so nice for a cold night inside their restaurant. I loved this little spot. It's so intimate I would definitely come back. Make sure to check out their bakery full of sweets- I guarantee you'll find SOMETHING.
Their food was meh at best...or mid. We had a breakfast sandwich and their special of the day, a Mac and cheese burger. We both chose potatoes as our sides and regretted it. There was no flavor to them and had to add more seasonings. The burger was good, wished it was cooked more as it was more of a medium vs medium well, but not a big deal. It needed a bit more sauce or seasonings on it as it was just lacking in the flavor department. The best thing was the gooey buttercake. That was to die for
Love this place! A nice brunch place also featuring an assortments of pastries/cakes up front. I'd give the brunch items 4 stars, pretty standard menu, good service, quick as well. The real star of the show here is Gooey Butter Cake, a St Louis delicacy. It's such a decadent dessert, and I would 100% recommend trying it from here!
Stopped in tonight to pick up the lemon curd cake I ordered for Mother’s Day, and Bill and Kevin were awesome as always. I don’t get to Russell’s as often as I used to, but I still always feel right at home. The food and service are always phenomenal! Réservez une table maintenant
