We spent a week in Mao eating out every evening in different restaurants. The mixed paella we chose was very disappointing for the content and price, we live in Valencia province so we are accustomed to the dish, we understand that paellas vary from different areas but this had a very poor content with only four small prawns and mussels and very little else apart from the rice and what looked like small cubes of cooked ham. For two persons the paella price was 40€ compared with the 25€ we normally pay. We pointed out to the waitress that mixed paellas usually contain some white and green beans to which she replied that paellas are different throughout Spain, she was polite and smiled nicely...

We arrived around 9:30 for dinner.. we ordered paella and were told it would be about a 30 minute wait and pushed to order a starter. The starter took 40 minutes to come... just some very average croquettes. The paella took a further 30 minutes. If you are thinking ‘maybe the food was worth the wait’... it wasn’t. Not a very impressive paella at all! The waiting staff preferred to stay in the kitchen as opposed to coming out acknowledging that there were several unhappy tables. We asked several times how long the food would be and not once was there an apology. Safe to say we will not be back. I wish we had seen the below reviews before! Prices are high for what you get also and so not worth...

We visited here for a family dinner one evening and we accommodated without a reservation. We ordered a paella for two and were told there would be a 20-25 minute wait however it was nearer 40 minutes. It was totally worth the wait as it was delicious. We also chose a T bone steak which was flavoursome. For desserts we chose chocolate truffles and cheesecake tart with berry compote which again were both delicious. The total bill came to €94 including drinks, water and coffee. We’d have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

The restaurant has a wonderful view of the harbour but we were very disappointed during our visit for dinner. The set priced lunch time menu looks great value but we found the prices charged in the evenings (20 to 25 euros for one course) were not reflected by the quality or quantity of food compared to other restaurants. The staff are friendly and welcoming but we won’t be back unfortunately certainly not for dinner. Réservez une table maintenant

I am reviewing this place only as a bar as we only ever used it as such. Lovely comfortable booths outside on the terrace, just perfect for a last drink of the evening. Brandy (Torres for us but plenty of options) served in beautiful large cut glasses, warmed to just the right temperature. Good measures. Friendly efficent service. Beautiful views of the port right in front of you. Prices fair. Highly recommended bar.

We stopped for lunch yesterday and our party of four all opted for the menu del dia. We all ordered different things and each of us were more than happy with our choices. For €16 it’s excellent value. There was a wide range of starters, mains and deserts and the price also included a glass of wine or beer. Once again the staff were welcoming and helpful. Thanks sa Vinya that’s how Friday lunch should be.

We had no reservation but they gave us very fast a nice table. The service was very attentive and kind.Nice Mojito. Lamb is nice (bit expensive, but probalbly normal for first line port of mahon), nice chocolate fondant.Decoration style is nice. I absolutely recommend going here

Great food, wonderful view and attentive service, what more could you ask for? The cod bites were light with a piquant sauce while the chocolate brownie, though not really a brownie, was a decadent mousse-like creation. Exactly what I had been looking for. Réservez une table maintenant

Went few times already and not disappointed. Very well organised service and welcoming. Good tasty food. Some acoustic shows in summer. One of the bests tapas I’ve tried during Mahón’s tapas competition.
